Makes me wonder if I could train my son already. He's 14 months and I just

recently (this week) switched him to cloth diapers, mainly for cost. We are

doing very well. And we only have a dozen diapers.

Chelle, Have you thought about this?

Chelle,

Since you are looking into all of this information, You may be interested in

looking into Infant Potty Training or Elimination Communication. There are

several that speak of this as well as books you can buy. I

know someone that does this and it works. Many in the US and other places

use cloth diapers when they do this. It is best to start while the child is

under 6 months old.

Ashely,

Sure you could. It is harder but it is possible. I used this technique

adjusted for older babies and reduced my need for diapers.

There is a group IPTLateStarters/

I hope this helps. I had my daughter where she would not pee in the bed most

nights about 14 months old. She started wiggling or whining and she would

use the pottty if I took her. Naturally you would need to sleep with the

child to have this work.

She gradually weaned her way out of diapers. She gradually got better . At

one point I could not keep a diaper on her though and we had lots of

accidents. I think all toddlers go through that stage.

though. The truth is she learned a lot during those times where she refused

to wear a diaper or training pants. She wanted to be bare bottomed only.

For those who are starting late or at 8 weeks this group can be very

helpful. There are more but this is the most active but busy list.

It has to be better on baby to pee in potties or other recepticles rather

than sitting in thier own waste. Just imagine how that would feel to us,

NASTY!

Babies often fuss or whine before they pee or poo. Then we train them to use

a diaper. We as parents are not listening many of the times because we dont

know. Most if not all cultures did this most of the time . I tried to find

out how they diapered kids many years back and I could find no reference as

to what they used for diapers.

Maybe they did not use diapers at all. You would think that in Ancient

Egyption times they would have images of babies using

diapers or some kind of information that would suggust what they used. I

have not seen anything that suggest diapers being used.

Perhaps this is a something started just a few hundred years ago.

If you think about it that is not that long when you consider how long man

has been here.

Hi April

Sorry I haven't replied sooner..I don't know where my time goes. It

is something I am aware of, but don't feel ready to try. I keep

thinking about it though and may come back to this. Thanks for

thinking of this forme though, I appreciate the suggestion.
