Guest guest
Had a wonderful surprise visit from an old friend and mentor Sister . She stopped in on her way to Ireland with a plate of cookies! After she left, I decided to change the furniture around and spent several hours lugging stuff up and down stairs, and dragging heavy furniture around the apartment. And yes, I am counting that as my exercise, burned lots of calories and hardly broke anything! I painted the back of one of the aquariums for relaxation, and am off for a nap or two. Food is good, water is pathetic, but I do not want to be trucking up and down two flights of stairs to go potty, so I will drink when I am settled for the day. How has everyone else been doing today? Tommorrow I go Christmas shopping, so I wanted everthing in order today, so that I can just come home and flop after a day in town. Tis' only a week till Christmas, and just a couple days till the winter solstice and then the days will start to get longer again, and I can start looking for flowers, yes, I know they won't be here for 4 more months, but I can start looking now..... I can if I want tooooooo! Have a great night everyone! Eleanora
Guest guest
> . She stopped in on her way to Ireland with a plate of cookies! Oh, how deadly! How many did you have? > And yes, I am counting that as my > exercise, burned lots of calories and hardly broke anything! Especially a hip or your back. Please be careful lugging that heavy stuff. > I painted the back of one of the aquariums for relaxation, and am off You mean you still have some fish left? >but I do not want to be trucking up > and down two flights of stairs to go potty, so I will drink when I am > settled for the day. I feel your bladder, er, I mean your pain. At our age we don't want to be caught too far away from the facilities so we only drink lots when we're settled in. > How has everyone else been doing today? Food-wsie and exercise-wise, not bad at all, but then again, it's not even 2pm. > Tommorrow I go Christmas shopping, Nothing like waiting until the last minute, heh? How are prices on things up there, as terrible as ever? All our newspaper & TV people are saying how great the sales are, that retailers slashed prices to rick-bottom early to spur sales, but you can't tell around here. In fact, some stuff seems higher than ever. Just my luck the kid got a sweater from hubby's aunt and he fell in love with it, so I wanted to get him more just like it. Aside from the really cheap polyester ones, the cheapest I could find one was around $30. Maybe next week I'll hit Salvation Army and Goodwill and find a few. Now that he's thinning down he no longer needs the XXL but can fit into the plain old XL again. At least this size does show up in the thrift shows on a fairly regular basis. I just got him a few shirts there last month for the winter for $2 - $5 each, including heavy flannel. >so that I can just come home and flop after a day in town. Flopping is nice after a day on your feet harassing sales clerks. > I can start looking for flowers, yes, I know they won't be here for 4 > more months, but I can start looking now..... I'm not the only one who starts looking for Spring before Winter even starts? It's good to know. Hope you had a good night's sleep and a nice day today. Guest guest
> I had to park in a different spot last night because my normal spot has a > sheet of ice and I can't get on/off it to save my life, Event though I haven't had to use them in a few years, I *always* keep these traction thingies with spikes on them in my trunk so I can get out of any bad spot like that. They've saved my hide a number of times. One of my neighbors liked them so much he would come and borrow them to get his truck out. I forget the brand, but I got them in Pep Boys ages ago. They must still sell them, because about half the block own them now. > and when I got > home I was able to park where I wanted to!! Yay!! You're lucky. Around this block, they'd be waiting to park in the spot as you were shovelling it, maybe even honking you to get out of the way when you were just about done. > Now my arm hurts again. Lovely. Just > l-o-v-e-l-y!! The best thing for a sore muscle is a heating pad and an ointment I get from the health food store called Arnica. Works wonders and is all natural. > so I have to figure out > how to get TWO cups of coffee home in the snow/ice?? Next time through a drive-through, save the cardboard drink holder and store it in a closet or somewhere out of the way. They come in handy for all sorts of things, even as a place to rest Easter eggs when dyeing them.. >I think I will get my cuppa joe and go back > to bed to watch a movie. ;-) We finally finished all our running around for the day - laundromat, 4 stores for stuff for the aunt, and a visit by the landlord (I got my oven back! Yay!), and right now the rice for my lunch is cooking and I have a cup of decaf tea cooling next to me. As soon as I finish that and checking email I'll have my lunch and we'll probably pop some cruddy 1950's sci-fi movie in the DVD player. Knowing Ed, he'll doze off and leave me to watch the film by myself. He already complained that I woke him up doing my exercise this morning. I had the volume so low I couldn't even make out the music, yet he heard in 2 rooms away with the door closed. Oh, well. Any excuse for a nap on a day off, right?
