Guest guest
http://www.richardsimmons.com/library/message_of_the_day.asp DON’T GET SICK ON ME 12/8/2001 I don`t want you to get sick during the holidays. It`s a dreadful feeling. You don`t want to see anybody, and nothing, and I do mean nothing, looks good to eat. Even though it`s warmer right now, everyone seems to be getting sick. Every other person I know has a cold, and they`re all different kinds of colds. Everybody has an opinion on where they got their colds – from their children, from an office worker who sneezed a little too near them, or maybe they took the train or the bus in and it was crowded, and there were people literally in their faces. Sometimes I have to laugh at these scenarios. There is a cold that affects your nose and makes it feel stuffed up and very uncomfortable. There is a cold that stuffs up your mouth making you cough every 10 seconds. There is a cold that depletes all your energy, and you`re not comfortable unless you`re lying down or sitting in a chair. I don`t want you to get any of these sorts of colds this year! The flu shots arrived a little late. Call your doctor and see if he feels you need one. Are you taking your vitamins? Are you eating properly? Are you eating oranges and grapefruits? When you have a cold, you should not be eating much fat and you should stay away from those dairy products. Do you rub Vicks on your chest or stand in front of the sink in your bathroom and inhale the steam of the hot water? It feels so good. Do you gargle with salt water? You will see great results if you do. It gets cold at night, and I still relate colds with cold weather. I know some people would disagree with me on this. Dress warmly when you go out, and don`t stay out too long. Drink tea by the fire. Oh, you don`t have a fireplace? Sit in the kitchen in front of the gas burner on your stove! No, don`t do that! I`m just teasing! ;-) Get to bed early when you feel a cold is coming on, and I`ll tell you one thing that will scare that cold away. Moving around! Keep your body busy! That movement aids your circulation and metabolism, and I think when you exercise, you combat germs better. So eat well, stay warm, drink tea, and take care of thee!
