Hi Marguerite,

I am afraid I don't understand the " ES " reference, you will have to

enlighten me.

You are welcome to any insights I have come across. I have not been

here very long, and still have lots of questions, but I am making

good headway against our bug problem. That's due to the help I have

gotten on this forum and others. I have been doing research like a

crazy person, lost alot of sleep doing so, and now know more about

bugs than I ever cared to know. I believe in the saying " Know Thy

Enemy " I figure the more I know about mite behavior, the better chance

I have of defeating them.

Anyway, have a happy Labor Day, I'm off to do a little BBQ and do

some more rooms with the menthol crystals.

Thanks, Mel.

Do you find that this helps?

Does it clear out the room and then you

sleep in there the next day with no problem?

I was hoping for something I could do while

I sleep to keep them off my eyes and ears.

Vaseline, vicks and cedarcide don’t

seem to work anymore. I feel them jump right in it.

Is Listerine a repellant that keeps them

off?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

P~

I buy them at http://www.mountain roseherbs.

com here is a list:

http://www.mountain

roseherbs. com/search/ search.php? keywords= menthol

You need a difusser, there are candle based ones and electric ones.

Also, you need to really fill a room, but don't be in the room when

you use them, you will get a very bad headache and could probably have

severe consequences. If you want to do this on your bedroom use it for

like 8 hours, then you will have to sleep in another room for a day or

two, believe me, it's strong.

There are the best kind of menthol, from their site:

" Our Menthol crystals come from freezing the base concentrate oil from

a common mint, Mentha arvensis plant "

Actually, I don't use a diffuser, I use a coffee cup warmer (like

you would use to keep a mug of coffee warm) you can get them at

Walgreens for $4.00. I then take a tea light candle and run hot

water over the metal bottom of the candle until I can slip the

candle out of its metal holder. The metal holder makes a perfect

container to hold the crystals on the coffee warmer.

No, the menthol crystals are not a instant fix, you might have to

treat a room many days in a row to kill the mites. Its main

advantage is it gets the critters that are on surfaces like ceilings

and walls. It is also a effective thing to use in your car.

When doing them in your car, you can put a container on the dash and

let the sun heat them up. Just keep in mind that the crystals turn

to a liquid when hot, so use a container that will not leak.

I am able to do mine, while I am in the same room and it does not

bother me. In fact, as I have written in the past, I had mites living

in my lungs (I know this because I have coughed them up before) and

breathing the menthol has killed the mites in my lungs.

Menthol is like a nerve toxin to mites. Buy several coffee warmers

and you can treat several rooms at once.

Hi Pamela

I live in Florida and I get these 4 little square packaged camphor

tablets for 50 cents. They are very similar to the menthol crystals.

I usually buy a large quantity. I then crush these into a fine

dust. I put these behind the bed in the corners and cracks. I once

went overboard and the entire house smelled so strong like menthol

that I got really sick. They are similar to moth balls but they

smell better. I get these in the 99 cent store I have heard from

friends you can get them at Walmart or Walgreens but I have never

seen them at these stores. You can also purchase them through this

website. I have never ordered them from here but I found them on a

google search. http://store.intertrademall.com/camphortablets.html It

helped me get rid of them in my leather sofa. I would just sprinkle

it every night. My sofa was severly infested I could not even sit in

it without getting devoured. I recently got the mites full force

when I fogged my home for roaches and I started my plan of attack

which includes the menthol crystals and I am already starting to feel

some relief. I hope this helps. Blanca
