Guest guest Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 Hi Sue, I too had this test, and it was normal. (At that time I was reacting to all kinds of stuff, from orange juice to new plastic.) Ron Message 5 From: " Sue T " morabshadow@... Date: Sat May 27, 2006 8:34pm(PDT) Subject: Immunoglobulin Test results Hi Rich and All, My infectious disease doc ran some immunoglobulin testing. Can anyone give me an idea what this may mean to me in regards to my CFS, Lyme, and heavy metal toxicity even though the results seems to be in the normal to high normal range? Would it better to have them in low normal . . . I don't have a clue? immunoglobulin IGA 253 mg/dl range 40-375 immunoglobulin IGG 1,160 mg/dl range 600-1,500 immunoglobulin IGM 133 mg/dl range 30-190 Thanks a bunch! Guest guest Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 Hi Sue T, you bring up a good question. I have autoimmune antibodies and one infection after another, but my immunoglobulin test results are normal. I have never understood why this is the case. I hope someone can shed some light on this for me too. Guest guest Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 My killer cell activity is extremely low. Are you saying that my immunoglobulin results are normal because of T2 upregulation and T1 downregulation? Guest guest Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 HI Vickie, The reason I asked is I was getting everything that came around. Colds, flu, etc. I raised my killer cells and that stopped. Guest guest Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 HI Jim, I use Moducare whicfh helps the body move from TH2 to TH1 (killer cells), IP-6 and I still have some MGN-3. I used all three for while. Then I worked down into a maintenance level Janet in San Diego. jschm111@... wrote: janet, how did you raise your nk cells? thanks, jim jgstev716@... writes: > I raised my killer cells and that stopped Quote
Guest guest Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 Sue, Looks pretty normal to me, mine are similar. You can request he/she run the subclasses to see if there is a deficiency within each class. Guest guest Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 Janet, how did you raise your natural killer cells? At this point, I would do ANYTHING to improve my immune functioning. I have ordered some new supplements based on my Amy Yasko gene test results, but they have not arrived yet. I have had an absolutely ghastly two or three weeks. I caught stomach flu from Hell from my husband. My case of it was 3 times worse than his. I still have lingering effects from it. I have developed chronic reflux -- (but not acid reflux). My food just backs up into my esophagus after I eat. There is no pain, but I can feel it backing up, and then I belch a lot or feel nauseated. In an effort to get the diarhea under control, I went too far in the other direction and my bowel became impacted. If I had any faith in the emergency rooms in this city, I would have gone. My hemorroids bled and then became swollen and infected. Normally I don't have problems with hemorroids. Then I came down with a very painful bladder infection. Sorry to be so graphic. I just had to vent my pain and frustration. My husband, with his normal immune system, didn't have all these problems. ARGH!! Guest guest Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 HI Vicki, I am fairly new to this group, but my gut feeling after reading and doing some extensive reseach of my own is that Amy Yaskow is on the right track. I am waiting for my genetic tests to come back. I think it is our " terrain " and not a specific " bug " . I used Moducare (it shifts the body from TH2 to TH1, IP-6 and I also had some MGN-3 which I also used. One supplement I don't see referred to often here is larch arabinogalactans, known as Arabinex. It raises killer cells and also other parts of the immune system. Google it. I used all of these for awhile. I had that " stomach flu from hell " and also got sick with everything going around. That has stopped for me. Get well soon and let me know how your are doing. Janet in San Diego Vickie <vickie77077@...> wrote: Janet, how did you raise your natural killer cells? Guest guest Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 Hi, Sue. Sorry for the slow response. We've been working on our house lately, and I haven't had much time to respond to emails. I think that the most that can be said from your immunoglobulin class measurements is that you don't have an immune deficiency in your humoral (antibody-related) immune response. I think this is consistent with what is generally found to be true in CFS. The problems in the immune system in CFS are primarily in the cell- mediated immune response (involving the T cells). That's why yeast, viral and intracellular bacterial infections are the main ones encountered. These types of infections require a healthy cell- mediated immune response to defeat them. As you probably know, the Lyme disease causing bacteria are able to assume an intracellular form. In the past, I attributed the problems in the Th1 and killer-T cell- mediated immune response to glutathione depletion. I still believe that is a major factor, but in addition, based on the work of Amy Yasko, I now suspect that the blocks in the folate metabolism that are linked to the methylation cycle block also contribute to the problems with the cell-mediated immune response in CFS. Folate is needed to make new DNA and RNA, and these are needed in large amounts to allow the T cells to proliferate (clone themselves), which is needed for an effective cell-mediated immune response. So now I believe that the cell-mediated immunity is suppressed by both these factors when there is a vicious circle that involves both a block in the methylation cycle and a depletion of glutathione. I think that to restore proper function of the cell-mediated immunity, it is necessary to correct the methylation/folate cycles block, as well as to restore the level of glutathione. These are linked together. Guest guest Posted June 3, 2006 Report Posted June 3, 2006 Hi Rich, Thanks again for your time and explaination. These particular tests are just a portion of the tests I had run at Kaiser lately. I had some T-cell tests run and when I receive the results I will scan them ans send them to you. For instance my CD4 is 52% range 30-60 and CD8 was 28% range 11-37. The only one I saw out of range was the CD3 82% range 68-80. Have a great weekend and I will be sending you more of a report of how I am improving in a week or so. I am riding horses again a little, but my main problemfor the moment I believe is my adrenals. I will be addressing that very soon with your recommendations. Cheers! Guest guest Posted June 3, 2006 Report Posted June 3, 2006 Hi, Sue. It's good to hear that you're " back in the saddle again " some these days! It sounds as though your lymphocyte cell counts are pretty good, too. Did they check your lymphocyte function, such as by provoking them with conconavalin or pokeweed mitogen or bacterial polysaccharides? In CFS, the T cells tend not to be able to respond normally when provoked, and the NK cells tend to have low activity. The cell counts may be normal, but the cells may still not be able to respond as they should. The U. of Miami group found that both the killer T cells and the natural killer cells are low in perforin in CFS, and that may be contributing to their low activity. As I mentioned before, I think that both glutathione depletion and folate metabolism problems are involved in this, too. I don't know yet if there is a connection between them and the low perforin, but there may be. I'll look forward to seeing your additional test results, and I'm glad you are going to pursue the endocrine stuff. Guest guest Posted June 3, 2006 Report Posted June 3, 2006 HI Rich, I will ask Kaiser to run the function tests next time. Do you know how Moducare works? I understand it is suppose to help the the Th1/Th2 response system? Hope you are doing well. I am in the middle of listening to you radio program and it is Excellent!
