Guest guest Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 In a book I'm proofreading: << The Occupational Safety and Health Administration considers a chemical hazardous if any of the following apply: - It causes cancer. - It is corrosive. - It is toxic or highly toxic based on its median lethal dose (the dose at which 50 percent of animals in an experimental study die). - It is an irritant. - It causes sensitization. - It has an effect on a particular organ such as liver, kidneys, the nervous system, or the hematopoietic system; or it is an agent that damages lungs, skin, eyes, or mucous membranes. >> I've never before heard of this thing " hematopoietic system.
