Guest guest
Pointing to casein may miss the point in some cases. A stool test I did through www.enterolab.com (I don't know how good they are, but the fact that you can get a sample kit and do the test without a doctor's prescription gives it a thumbs up in my book) that showed I don't have a problem with casein (it did show a problem with gluten). So why wouldn't whey work? If I'm reading Gottschall right, the problem is not with casein, but with lactose, because it's a disaccharide and difficult to digest, requiring functioning microvilli and sufficient enzymes. Illustrations in her book make it quite clear. She says her yogurt helps because the 24-hour length of fermentation converts all the lactose to galactose (a monosaccharide/single sugar, easily absorbed). So I think in my case: Gluten consumption with an unknown gluten sensitivity ruined the microvilli and digestive enzymes, so lactose can't be digested, and whey protein powder does nothing but clog things more. The guts of autistic kids are a mess to different degrees, right? Maybe it's the gluten for some, maybe it's the casein, maybe it's the live measles virus in the MMR vaccine. But the end result may be the same, and Gottschall's model explains it: the small intestine is injured so nothing but monosaccharides can get digested, until disaccharides and polysaccharides are eliminated and some healing can take place. > > > > After trying Whey protein for some time, and feeling no > improvement, > > I have come to think maybe this is not going to increase > glutathione > > levels for me, and maybe others. > > > > I have started Readisorb Liposomal Glutathione, and think I feel > > immediate benefit, if that is possible. > > > > Elaine Gottschall, author of the book " Breaking the Vicious > Cycle, " > > and proponent of the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, has a negative > > opinion of whey at www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info > under " Knowledge > > Base, " under " W. Guest guest
What I am reading about SCD is that some are using homemade goat yogurt, it is a different type of casein, and it is fermented for 24 hours, which breaks down the casein and consumes the lactose. That will be the only dairy I will have except for the Immune Pro/Goatien that I have been taking, that are not approved for SCD. > > > > > > After trying Whey protein for some time, and feeling no > > improvement, > > > I have come to think maybe this is not going to increase > > glutathione > > > levels for me, and maybe others. > > > > > > I have started Readisorb Liposomal Glutathione, and think I feel > > > immediate benefit, if that is possible. > > > > > > Elaine Gottschall, author of the book " Breaking the Vicious > > Cycle, " > > > and proponent of the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, has a negative > > > opinion of whey at www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info > > under " Knowledge > > > Base, " under " W.
