Guest guest Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Hi: I have read with interest the comments under this thread because I have experienced many of the same things - only I wasn't able to put a label on some of them ie " empty eyes feeling " and thought it was just " me " !! Also, I feel that a lot of my emotions/perceptions are blunted and have just attributed it to depression. I have a lot of cognitive stuff happening that comes and goes. Sometimes it is hard to find words to form sentences or either I just feel too confused to try to put my thoughts into words. I have actually had gibberish come out of my mouth. I have wondered if there might be some sort of seizure activity happening in the brain but have never been checked. To me some of this stuff is sounding suspiciously like some of the symptoms of temporal lobe epilepsy. Anybody in the group had an EMG to check for seizure activity? Just my thoughts.... Best Regards, Teena Quote
Guest guest Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Hi Yes, I am more or less sure I have been checked for epilesy when I was at the national ME hospital but as usual all tests normal, it sure does not feel normal n >From: rudedog89@... >Reply- > >Subject: Brain Problem/?epilepsy >Date: Tue, 18 Apr 2006 11:15:35 -0500 > >Hi: > >I have read with interest the comments under this thread because I have >experienced many of the same things - only I wasn't able to put a label >on some of them ie " empty eyes feeling " and thought it was just " me " !! >Also, I feel that a lot of my emotions/perceptions are blunted and have >just attributed it to depression. Guest guest Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Hi Teena, Yes, the same things you mention here apply to me as well -- the " blunting " and so on. And I too have always thought " well, it's just 'me'. " Maybe it's not! Maybe it's a bunch of us. It is so hard to put some of this into words. And I wonder if that might actually be part of the problem itself. And your question about EMG or EEG is important too. Perhaps there is some kind of seizure activity or " misfiring " going on. Maybe this is why I felt that my brain was better organized and functional the few times I took Depakote (intended to treat migraine, though). I never had EEG. I've had EMG for various kinds of nerve impingement problems -- mostly I remember hand/arm (carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve detection). in Champaign IL > > Hi: > > I have read with interest the comments under this thread because I have > experienced many of the same things - only I wasn't able to put a label > on some of them ie " empty eyes feeling " and thought it was just " me " !! > Also, I feel that a lot of my emotions/perceptions are blunted and have > just attributed it to depression. Guest guest Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Teena I also think some epileptic-like activity might be present. I was not checked for that, though. Guest guest Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Magnesium +B6 calm the brain, fish oil and coconut oil grease its skids. Taurine and GABA (amino acids) help stabilize it. Now you know, too. BY the way, about ten years ago, I had similar symptoms. mjh From: " netsukeme " kcapel@... Guest guest Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Okay. That's encouraging, mjh. Thanks. Right now I need all the encouragement I can get. You don't get this stuff anymore? How long did it take for you to start getting better...do you remember? > > > > > > Magnesium +B6 calm the brain, fish oil and coconut oil grease its skids. > Taurine and GABA (amino acids) help stabilize it. > > Now you know, too. > > BY the way, about ten years ago, I had similar symptoms. > > mjh > Quote
Guest guest Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Hi : I was just thinking that it is too bad there isn't a comprehensive list somewhere of all the quirky things that happens to us...then we could just look at it and say ahha when something applied to us. I try not to automatically attribute all my stuff to the CFIDs (in my case) but sometimes the evidence is just too compelling when you hear it from others too. That was interesting about your improvement on the Depakote when you took it. I have migraines too and was tried on several things - although not Depakote. ~Teena On Tue, 18 Apr 2006 18:58:16 -0000 " netsukeme " <kcapel@...> writes: > Hi Teena, > > Yes, the same things you mention here apply to me as well -- > the " blunting " and so on. Guest guest Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Hi Teena. Yes, some place where we could keep stuff and add to it. That's what I asked about several notes ago, probably yesterday or the day before. I wish someone had a good idea about this. When I took the Depakote, it was for less than one month. It was prescribed in an attempt to intervene the frequent migraines I was getting. It did not help the migraines, and it did not help any of this head/brain swelling and pain feeling. But it DID seem to help me feel more " organized " in my upstairs. I suddenly felt as if my brain was more ironed out, my perceptions more clear and less diffuse, there was better clarity about everything. And that I did notice it suddenly tells me it was the Depakote and something it did that did help me. I know that Depakote has many possible untoward side effects and I never took it after that one month time, but I sure do miss that good normal feeling in my brain. > > > > > > Hi: > > > > > > I have read with interest the comments under this thread because I > > > > have > > > experienced many of the same things - only I wasn't able to put a > > label > > > on some of them ie " empty eyes feeling " and thought it was > > just " me " !! > > > Also, I feel that a lot of my emotions/perceptions are blunted and > > > > have > > > just attributed it to depression. Guest guest Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 We can upload documents we write to the FILES section of this group. Another option is to use the DATABASE. A more user friendly and cheaper option to Depakote is Magnesium+B6, fish oil and some amino acids. mjh From: " netsukeme " kcapel@... Guest guest Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 Hi Mel and Tina, Please be careful with Topomax . . . I ended up in the ER and my brain has never been the same. I believed that is what really triggered all my neuro symptoms 2 years ago. The docs either thought I was going to go blind from high eye pressure or have a stoke(maybe I did have a small one) Kaiser never really followed through properly in my opinion. It was a nightmare . . .PLEASE be careful if your brain is sensitive or have neuro inflammation. This is just my experience. Please research the drug completely. But I also gained a ton of weight (well, not literally ;@). My doctor agreed to try me on Topamax, and I spent a month ramping down the Depakote and ramping up the Topamax. After only a month, my migraines were back full force, plus I was feeling a definite increase in depression, spaciness, and body pain. I also started getting peripheral neuropathy symptoms - NOT fun! I'm back on Depakote, the weight be damned. I won't touch Topamax again. Of course, YMMV. But if you have any problem at all with depression or chronic pain, pay close attention to any change in these when trying Topamax. -- el (andreafrankel at sbcglobal dot net) " wake now!
