Guest guest Posted April 22, 2000 Report Share Posted April 22, 2000 HI My son started having problems at the age of 11 and after about a year of some real difficulty (outbursts, crying, more obsessive compulsive, more rigid etc...) we began to have a clearer understanding of some of the causes (we were kind of slow learners!) there were things going on at school that should not have been happening that was part of the cause of his problems. Also the response that all of us were having to his problems made him much worse. Later we also discovered that he had developed bipolar too. Some of the things that really helped was changing our strategies for his behavior, using social stories, developing for him a visual system so he had a clear understanding of his day to day life as well as a way to negotiate with us when he wanted to, sensory integration, cranial sacral therapy, a mentor and medication. Feel free to get back in touch with me if you want more details. By the way today my son is 14 and is doing fantastic! He is global developmental delays, autism, We are changing his school because they cannot handle his outbursts and moods. We have done AIT for about 2 years now, Cranial therapy, I made an app with DR G also for Aug. He is now tactile defenses, it take me about 5- 15 min to calm he down when he gets in these moods. But the problems just started a couple of months ago. I just worry about what is in the chicken. Fish are wild and probably full of mercury, but chickens are injected with everything. I hear most who work in those plants become vegetarians. I used to be vegetarian, but the canned soy meat substitutes, though tasty to me, are high in fat and sodium. So we eat meat about once a week.
