Guest guest
Hi Dan- Because of my chemical sensitivities, much of what I do is is made for me by compound pharmacies. I do all my hormones with them and also now have them make my compounded CoQ10 troches that I can either use up in the gum buckle or sublingually. I have spent a lot of time on the phone with compound pharmacies going over what ingredients are absolutely necessary to insure the efficacy of the products I take. Sometimes I have to bite the bullet, such as the methacyl that needs to go into my compounded SR T3/T4 thyroid combo. (Methacyl is the sustain releasing agent). The way I apporach this is by following what my enviro doc, Sherry preaches...that it's all about to total load that the body has to deal with and detox. Some products that I have to take has the junk in them so I try and look at my total daily intake and keep it as low as possible. Some of it is just unavoidable. There is also the other side of this too...many times if they compound and leave out something, such as a binding agent, it may dissolve differently. And I hear you on the flavorings..my compound pharmacy laughs that I don't want flavoring or stevia in my hormones. I am so used to the bitterness in the Progesterone that it wouldn't taste right to not have that! In other words, I've gotten use to it. I HATE the flavorings, they taste so artificial. Yeck. However, more often is the case that additional stuff, like fillers, go into OTC products such as the typical mag sterates, gelatin, microcrysalline cellulose, etc.. In dealing with a compound pharmacy, we have a chance to avoid all that stuff. What has particularly pleased me is that the pricing that I am paying with a compounded product such as my CoQ10 60 mg is averaging out to be less than what I was paying with the OTC at a higher milligram level. My experience with troches and sublinguals is because it is a more direct form of administration, it has much more of a " punch " than the capsules and loses less in the liver. It's a more direct form of adminstration right to the blood stream. Thus I can do less mg = less expensive compounds. I know that many of the usual compound pharmacies will compound B12, it just depends on which B12 a person wants. It's easy to find those who do the cyano or hydroxy. It's harder to find those who compound methyl, at least in my experience. If you explore this option, please post what happens. I will be very interested. Kathy Does anyone know if there's a sublingual b-12 product out there with no sweetners or other additives? Dan --------------------------------- Autos. Looking for a sweet ride?
