Guest guest
AACFS conference summary available: " Good Enough to Take It to the Bedside " American Association for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome October 8-10, 2004, Madison, Wisconsin Summary by a M. Carnes Our thanks to a Carnes for taking an immense amount of information and synthesizing to a readable document. It is technical, and to explain scientific terms would have been impossible. In Wisconsin, we are encouraged by the research, but are quite aware of the immense task that lay ahead. My thanks to all of you who work in the advocacy arena. Pull together we must... to form a community. Many patients from Wisconsin who had never attended a conference walked away amazed at what IS AVAILABLE. However, far fewer patients attended this conference than I would have liked. One astute woman from Milwaukee called to ask why should she come, pay all that money, expend all that energy only to hear about CFS all in your head. She did come for our pre- conference workshop on Thursday and for the 3 day AACFS conference. Now, her view is changed. With determination and knowledge, she will forge ahead, not accepting the trench mantra...nothing can be done. She sees that we have MD's & researchers who know a thing and care about the science and the patient population. More importantly, she knows that SHE must persist.
