Guest guest
Hi all. I'm in need of some info today... What are the regular tests that a doc does to diagnose CFS? I can't find a specialist in the Niagara area and I'm hoping my GP can conduct enuff tests to put this down on paper. Anyone know of any CFS docs this side of Toronto? I heard there may be one in the Hamilton/Burlington area who's accepting patients. Also, I'm not a pill popper, but my doc wants to put me on Apo-Citalopram. 20mgs/day for a month, then 40/day the next month. Sounds like the side effects are the same as our symptoms. NOT LOL Anyone benefit from taking this drug? Problems? Any help would be appreciated...Sue

From what I've been told, it takes a long time to get off it too. U have to be weened off by U'r doc. Did U quit U'rself or with a doc's advice? From what I see, I'm afraid to use this stuff. Some side effects are less sleep, more heart palpitations, more nite sweats, sinus congestion (may interfere with my asthma) and IBS? Geez, is my doc nutz? I already have all of those symptoms. Then again, this is the first time he sat up and took notice of my problems. Thanks for U'r reply...Sue
Guest guest
Hi Sue I take Citalopram 10mg every alternate day. Two years ago my GP gave me Prozac which I stuck for 10 days before giving up due to anxiety & heart symptoms. He then tried Citalopram at 10mg/day which I tolerated ok & it helped my mood swings & depression without noticeable side-effects. I'm now trying to give it up and have stopped it three times and then 2-3 weeks later had severe mood swings which disappeared the day after re-starting the Citalopram. May be coincidence, dependency or re-occurrence of borreliosis lability symptoms. Jury's still out & I'm maintaining the 10mg every 2 days because it keeps symptoms at bay.
