Guest guest
I would like to point out one word of caution about taking Hydroxocobalamin B-12. Dr. Cheney prescribed it for me (Yes, Dr. Cheney is human even though he is unusually brilliant) and it turned out that the B-12 reacted with the high levels of mercury in my body and caused me to become very ill. I suffered one of the worst crashes in my life. I was bedridden for months. So, if anyone is thinking of doing this, be careful of your mercury levels. Hydroxoxobalamin B-12 4? years ago Dr. Cheney recommended 10,000 mcg/ml 1 cc DAILY usually at bed time. Someone on this list had gotten a price for ME/CFS patients from a pharmacy in California of 30 ml at the 10,000 mcg/ml UNPRESERVED and BUFFURED for about $30 US. Price probably has gone up - has in Canada. Cheney based his amount on European studies which showed hydroxocobalamin effective for brain detox starting at 4,000 mcg daily and best for most people around 9-10,000 mcg daily. Hydroxocobalamin is used for smoke inhalation [ cyanide poisoning ] in some European countries in range of 5 GRAMS IV push, for adults, over 30 minutes and up to 15 GRAMS over nest 6-8 hours. Even safe for babies at weight/dose rate. I get mine in 50 ml bottles from 's Pharmacy in Toronto, ON, Canada for $95 Can plus shipping [ it went up considerably 2 years ago] Not recommended for going across border since it can sit unrefridgerated for days at customs. Methylcobalamin in 3-7,000 mcg daily is good for nerve degenerative illnesses such as MD and MS. This list is intended for patients to share personal experiences with each other, not to give medical advice. If you are interested in any treatment discussed here, please consult your doctor. Guest guest
, I'm very sorry that this happened to you, and I appreciate your posting it. Vitamin B-12 related substances (methylcorrinoids) are the only substances in biological systems that are able to methylate inorganic mercury (These are the substances used by bacteria and molds in the environment to produce methyl mercury). I suspect that that must have been what happened to you. Inorganic mercury (mercuric ions or Hg++) in your body was methylated by the high concentration of B-12 to form methyl mercury. Methyl mercury is able to cross the blood-brain barrier. This put more mercury into your brain. Once inside the brain, it can convert back to mercuric ions, and then can bind to cysteine residues in enzymes, acting as a neurotoxin. I have wondered whether a person could use this effect in reverse to move mercury out of the brain. It would be important first to chelate the inorganic mercury in the rest of the body and remove it, using one of the chelating agents. Then high-dose B12 would be given to methylate the mercury that remained in the brain, which is hard to remove by chelation. Once methylated, the mercury should be able to move back across the blood-brain barrier to get out of the brain. I think that if I.V. glutathione or a chelation agent were given at the same time, this would bind the methyl mercury and carry it out of the body. Please note that this is a hypothesis. I don't know if it would actually work, but I think it makes sense from a theoretical point of view. Rich > I would like to point out one word of caution about taking Hydroxocobalamin B-12. Guest guest
Patrica - sorry to hear you are unable to take the higher dose. Without the 10,000 mcg Hydroxocobalamindaily I soon crash. [The Methyl B-12 dosen't work for me.] Everyone can see it because it looks like someone gave me 2 black eyes. Thus for me it has been a life saver. Plus I also being a man started taking testosterone 1 ml monthly since total showed low. For everyone a note. Rich had mentioned Dr. Byron Hyde and his book from 1992. Even back then it stated that end organ failure leading to death was usually the heart - something reported in the 2003 Canadian CLINICAL definition and treatment protocol for ME/CFS [ journal.pdf - follow links at www.mefmaction.net - also has 2004 Clinical definition for FMS] A year ago I had a heart attack from a blocked artery, heart stopped,a shocking experience :-) to say the least- just a week after all blood and electocardiogram tests had read normal. Still get what seems like angina when I walk too fast, etc. however heart doctor said it is probably the ME/CFS just remanifesting itself - this after having several tests including an angiogram. SO if you are having left side chest pain get stress test and other tests done [women quite often don't get chest pains with heart attacks ]
Guest guest
, I think the fact that high-dose IM glutathione made you very sick is evidence that your body was low in glutathione. This is consistent with your high levels of heavy metals, since glutathione is normally reponsible for carrying them out of your body. If it is low, they are allowed to build up to toxic levels. I am not an expert in chelating heavy metals, but there are doctors who specialize in this. I think the important thing is to go slowly enough on the dosages that you actually are able to remove these metals from your body, not just mobilize them and move mercury into your brain. When chelating, or taking things like NAC, things to build glutathione, or alpha lipoic acid, it's very important to have your GI tract operating with regular bowel movements and some fiber in your diet to bind the toxins and carry them out. Otherwise, they will just recirculate via the enterohepatic circulation, and some may enter the brain. Rich > > I would like to point out one word of caution about taking > Hydroxocobalamin B-12. Guest guest
, You might try contacting the Foundation for Toxic Free Dentistry, which is actually located in Orlando. I think the people to talk to are Drs. Sam or Ziff. They refer people to dentists who don't use mercury, but perhaps they also know of doctors in that area who are experienced at mercury detox. On the internet, you can find lots of views about it, and I think that there are different ways to do it, many of which probably work. Dr. Mercola has some strong views about it. Dr. Andy Cutler does, too. So does Dr. Deborah Baker-Racine. So does Jeff at www.cfsn.com. They don't all agree. I think all of them have been able to help quite a few people. Whichever way one does it, I think there are some general guidelines that make sense to me. One is that before you start moving mercury around in your body with chelators, make sure your gastrointestinal tract is working regularly (at least one bowel movement per day), and that you have fiber in your diet. This gives you a pathway to carry the mercury out and fiber to carry it. Another is to take it easy, especially at first. Start with low dosages of the sulfur-containing substances. Things designed to build glutathione are probably the best to start with, because glutathione is what the body uses normally to remove mercury. Another is don't get all your amalgams removed before you do anything else, don't have them all taken out at once, and do have it done by a dentist who is experienced at doing it--who uses things like a dam to keep you from swallowing particulates of amalgam, a powerful vacuum hose to keep you from inhaling mercury vapors, lots of water cooling on the drilling to keep the amalgam temperature down, etc. I've heard lots of stories from people who didn't follow these admonitions, and they ended up moving mercury into their brains and suffering from it for a long time. Be careful with the chelators, especially DMPS. There are horror stories on the web from people who had problems with it. It's possible that they didn't use it properly, since Dr. Mercola says it's just fine the way he recommends to use it. I guess that's about all I have to say about it. Hopefully the Drs. Ziff can point you toward a doctor in the Orlando area who knows how to do this. Rich > > > I would like to point out one word of caution about taking > > Hydroxocobalamin B-12.
