Guest guest
The sleep apnea dx is definitely separate from the dx of CFIDS/FM. But the sleep apnea definitely aggravates the CFIDS/FM. I honestly had no idea that I had sleep apnea. For years my family has told me that I would toss and turn and have bouts of snoring that would rattle the house. Enough that my husband had moved to the couch. I also would wake up unrefeshed, tired throughout the day no matter how much sleep I got, and also my whole body would ache. I tried sleeping pills, but still woke up feeling the same way. Actually the dx of sleep apnea, and restless leg was a blessing. Although not a cure for the other dx, it has made a huge difference in my life. Hope this helps you. --- earnest4321 <earnest4321@...> wrote: Thanks . Does your doctor think the sleep apnea is related to the CFIDS (I mean other than causing fatigue) or is it viewed as a separate condition? Did they diagnose any other sleep problems, like insomnia or unrefreshing sleep? Were you aware of the sleep apnea before the sleep study? I think I have some sleep apnea but I have problems getting to sleep and not sleeping soundly and then waking up early. > > Has anyone had a sleep study done? Guest guest
(and Earnest), I don't have CFS or related disorders, but I do have sleep apnea. My experience with it is much the same as you () have described. My life would be quite different (assuming I wasn't actually killed in a driving accident, which could have happened, considering the way I was driving before I got the machine) if I didn't have a CPAP machine. It's a real blessing for me. I'm about to go kayaking and camping again, sleeping in a tent, and I'm bringing my CPAP machine along again, together with a small lead- acid battery (made for all-terrain vehicles). I have a Good Knight machine, which will run on 13 volts d.c. as well as on house power, and is small enough to travel with. My machine will run for several nights on one charge. I wouldn't consider going if I couldn't use my machine there. It really does make a huge difference, in all the ways you've described and a few more! And my wife actually has said several times that she likes the sound it makes. Certainly better than the snoring that went on before! My sleep study was much like yours, except that they ran the whole thing in one night. I accepted an Ambien, which apparently does not interfere with the sleep study, and I was able to sleep for quite a few hours. Midway through, they came in and hooked me up to a CPAP machine, and then did the pressure adjustment during the rest of the night. Rich > > > > Has anyone had a sleep study done?
