Guest guest
Hi Joyce. Sue B. posted a few days ago that she talked to a doctor who was having good results with IV pushes. A quote from her post: " The patients get the glutathione from Wellness Pharmacy, at about $25/dose. " A google search turned up a link for Wellness Pharmacy, but I couldn't pull up the web page for some reason. Maybe someone could give us the contact info for Wellness. I know I've seen the name a number of times on this list. Guest guest
Hi Tea lk, Were the IVs that you got at your alternative M.D.s office just for glutathione, or were they for other things, too? Or other things mostly? Did they stick you every time you went or did you have a peripherally inserted midline (PIC) or central catheter (PICC)? When you say that your veins are shot, what does this mean in practical terms? Does it mean that your veins can no longer be accessed for blood draws? Or that accessing them hurts a lot? Do they hurt ordinarily? Anyway, that's a bummer. Sorry it happened to you. I worked in a hospital once and there were some people who actually could not get IVs--not even in their feet--because the nurses couldn't find anyplace to put them. > i did get ivs at an alternative mds office... some people may qualify for home > visits to get their ivs in their house .... good luck they were helpful but my > veins got shot from years of this ... tealk Sue B., Upstate New York

Glutathione is relatively cheap and no problem to push some extra with a Meyer's cocktail. Glutathione from College is slightly hypotonic but can be used alone or with some dextrose. It's recommended to start with a lower dosage such as 300mg. It can be purchased as high as 100mg/cc. 10 cc's to a Meyer's and you have a 1000 mg's. Low dosages are recommended initially because there can be a marked detoxification event and can cause some ill effects. I've heard though that as much as 3600 mg's have been used in one IV. (Parkison's patients) I personally believe that oral glutathione and whey are ineffective at increasing glutathione levels. What you probably end up with is three expensive amino acids in the stomach and they won't magically reform into glutathione in the liver. It's the liver's decision what it wants to make! A Meyer's with some extra glutathione is probably the cheapest and easiest to do in your doc's office if he/she does not do them on a regular basis. The cost can range from $50-75 dollar or more depending on the amount of glutathione and your doctors generosity. Just make sure your doc knows how to calculate osmolarity if you get the stuff ala carte. Hypotonic solutions can cause you some major grief. In retrospect, don't go to a doc who hasn't done IV's or pushes. Find a AAEM doc or a chelation clinic would be the safest way to do this stuff.
