I did the sauna for about 4 months & was careful to make sure I drank lots of

water & took electrolytes & minerals etc. I tried to do it twice a week for

about 1/2 hr & sweated about 10 minutes each time. I enjoyed & was able to

tolerate the heat of the saunas. But I think I must have detoxed too quickly

because I have been so much worse since then. Fibro pain much more severe & in

new

places, a lot more & different kinds of neurological pain. I cannot even walk

anymore with the excruciating pain in my feet or use my hands much because of

the worsening pain.

It is over 3 months later & my health is still much worse than it was before

the saunas.

So I sure did not find it as safe a healing treatment as I thought it would

be.

Hi Doris,

I have been doing the sauna since September of 2003. At first, I

had some problems, and then realized I was depleting my

minerals too much, so I eased off and began to do the saunas

less frequently. I do them about every 5 days now. I definitely

feel the saunas have helped me, but not miraculously. There's

no better way to describe it, but I feel less toxic all the time, and

my sleep is a little bit better overall. The change is not dramatic

for me -- I still can't do much of anything and my functional

impairment is severe -- but the sauna has helped me some, and

I'm optimistic it will keep helping me, and that's something.

be having nice results, but I would like to hear how things are

now, 6 months later. Is it still the miracle several of you claimed,

or did it wear off like many things we try.

I used the heater that I bought from Jim only a few times. I could

not tolerate teh heat. I think it might be because of severe

Orthostatic Intolerance symptoms and extreme adrenal exhaustion. Or

may be I overdid it. I used to do it for 20 mts. But it always made

me weak with a head ache. So I stopped using it.

I want to get to a bit more higher functionality level before

starting the sauna again. But it is definitely one of the list of

things that I want to do after I get a bit better.

I have CFS but not FM. I have been experimenting with the

saunas for about 4 months now. With help from my doc we have

found a comfortable level for me to sauna.

We are measuring, not the total time spent in the sauna, but the

actual time spent sweating. At this point I am tolerating sweating

for 1 minute every 5 days. The actual time spent in the sauna

varies, but it's under 10 minutes, sometimes under 5.

I seem to be getting a small increase in energy which is fairly

consistent.

When I spent more than 1 minute sweating, then I would feel

very tired afterwards and have jumpy heartbeats and some chest

pain. Up to this point I have never been able to spend more than

10 minutes in the sauna without it becoming too uncomfortable.

The plan is to slowly increase the amount of time in the sauna,

with an eye to making sure I am tolerating it well.

Based on my experience, I feel that those who are having

increased pain etc. are spending too much time in the sauna,

and would need to take a break until they return to normal, then if

they wish, start over being very cautious.
