Guest guest
hi, mort. i lurk here, but seldom post. i've had cfs for 29 years, and i've had a sore throat (on the left side) and swollen, sore lymph nodes the entire time. my worst swollen lymph nodes are always worse on the left side, right under my jaw. don't know if there's any connection to my sore throats being on the left side, too. the lymph nodes under my left arm are also swollen and sore. i hope this information helps a bit. (i don't know the cause of these symptoms, but i suspect our lymph systems are generally pretty sluggish with this disease.) i hope this helps some, maggie ----- Original Message ----- From: " Mort Caldwell " <caldbio@...> : For the past month, I have had a very severe sore right throat and swollen : right cervical (lower neck) lymph node, which is driving me crazy. Guest guest
Dear Mort, EBV is a likely cause as is other herpes viruses. Other possible causes include deficiency of vitamin B2 or zinc. If you have zinc deficiency, you will likely have several of the following: Skin rashes Frequent infections White spots on nails Eczema, acne, and/or psoriasis Behavioral disturbances (including hyperactivity) Night blindness Diarrhea Stretch marks Decreased appetite Infertility Clouding/swelling of corneas Impaired taste and smell Slow wound healing Hair discoloration and loss Impaired protein digestion Male infertility If you have a B2 (riboflavin) deficiency, you will likely have some of the following: -sore throat -redness and swelling of the lining of the mouth and throat -cracks or sores on the outsides of the lips (cheliosis) and at the corners of the mouth (angular stomatitis) -inflammation, redness or atrophy of the tongue (magenta tongue) -moist, scaly skin inflammation (seborrheic dermatitis); also whiteheads-formation of blood vessels in the clear covering of the eye (vascularization of the cornea); possibly cataracts -decreased red blood cell count Best regards, Blake Graham What causes CFS sore throat and swollen lymph nodes???? > For the past month, I have had a very severe sore right throat and swollen > right cervical (lower neck) lymph node, which is driving me crazy. Guest guest
Hi Cort, I would also like to understand the sore throats in CFS and ME. My acute onset illness started with a sore throat/glands etc and has continued off and on for over 20 years. The original illness was in the summer and my worst bouts now are in the summer. I can have lumps the size of golf balls on my glands and what my GP says is pus on my tonsils. When he took a swab a few months ago no infection could be detected by the NHS lab but they are hardly cutting edge.... The viri that kept reoccuring ere EBV and CMV although it's been years since I was tested. Like yourself anti-candida measures have made no difference. The things that have helped me are Imunovir and a homeopathic remedy called " baryta carb " . To a smaller extent salt gargles and tea-tree gargles help as well. Mainly the swollen glands start on the left hand side and then move to the right, back to the left and then begin to clear. Dr Hyams says that I have an area of lymph congestion at the top of my chest towards the neck on the left side. Hope that you get some answers. Guest guest
Mort, Like many of us,I also had problem of sore throats over the last 16 years on and off.(I have always treated them with local anti bacterial agents like salt water, iodine solution etc). About 2 years ago I had swollen lymph node.Actually they were 2 nodes. It was not much painful but it was big.My nodes were at the part where my legs join the body(don't know the name of that part)I also was extremely worried about it but could not have a chance of getting some investigation.Meanwhile I noticed that I was taking one of my hormone supplements at 3 times higher dosage than it should be and I corrected the dosage.I don't remember the period exactly but I think nodes went away themselves after 1 or 2 months without me doing anything . My thought afterwards was that my toxic load has increased due to wrong supplementation. Of course you will go on with your investigation because there might be many causes of this but I thought you might also consider the possibility of toxic load. It could be that your detox agents could not handle the toxins generated by anti-fungal and/or other supplements and toxins were accumulated at the lymph nodes. Your immune system may also be overloaded due to toxin accumulation and your viral throat infection might have been activated. While continuing your investigation you may consider to decrease the load on your liver by cutting some of the supplements off for a while, use some liver detox agents like castor oil packs, drink lots of water(no need to say),try to find means of moving lymph by message or rebounding type of exercise, etc.You probably know all these things but just wanted to remind. These might be simple solutions but might help. Hope we hear from you soon that it went away. Take care. Nil What causes CFS sore throat and swollen lymph nodes????
