Guest guest
Hi - Tthe no-amylose diet is Shoemaker's (LOSE THE FAT YOU HATE) - very similar to Adkins. The ingestion of amylose spikes glucose which spikes insulin which interferes with protein. Foods that contain amylose are all grains, tubers (ie potatores, yams, radishes), sugar (fructose OK as has a much lower glycemic indes than beet or cane sugar). Corn contains amylose but has an enzyme that evidently blocks the spike in sugar. Needless to say it's heavy on protein, fruits (all OK except bananas) and veggies (all OK except carrots). I have improved lots and after a week all sugar, bread cravings etc were gone! I've only lost 10 pounds but several inches around waist and hips which means my lean muscle mass is increasing - I truly believe that the reason I got sick was that I was burning away my lean muscle mass and eventually my immune system said sayonara!
