Guest guest
, A pharmacist friend has lent me his textbook and I've been researching the three neurotransmitters, too. According to the adult ADD books I've been reading, ADDers suffer from LOW dopamine. The ADD-like symptoms we have include brainfog, inability to screen out extraneous stimuli, even irritability. So, unlike you, I'm looking for antideps and stimulants that *increase* dopamine right now. I notice that you feel dopamine hurts you. Can you say how/why? BTW, accd. to this textbook, Dopamine functions in the production of norepinephrine. Something that confuses me: why do the tricyclics, which also meddle with the three neurotransmitters, make us SLEEPY (and gain weight!) while the " newer antideps " make many of us jittery and INSOMNIAC--when they're all mostly increasing the availability (i.e., usually, that is, inhibiting the reuptake) of one or more of these same neurotransmitters? I'll see if my pharmacist friend can explain. It can't just be idosyncratic responses. Lynea
