I guess it really was still too hot, I forgot the language stuff.

My #2 is now putting the ending consonants on his words, like he says

" cup " instead of his usual " cu " , and he says " blanket " instead of his

usual " hakee " . He can use 2-3 words together, but generally only does

so when he is very motivated. Now however, he is talking to himself

and his siblings, whereas before he would only talk to me.

My #3 is now SINGING along with the videos, whereas before he would

just watch them. It is technically echolalia, but it is purposeful

rather than just a stim, which would be something he does while

thinking about other things or nothing. But he is doing it

intentionally, and wanting everyone else to sing too. He is also

using words more often, one at a time tho, but better than before. He

can also follow your intent when you point at something, which he has

never done before. I would say " get your blanket " and point at it,

and he knew what I said but he would look all around, he would not

follow my point, but now he does, and he will bring the blanket to me

and say " blanket " altho not very understandable, but he has never had

expressive language before, his language delay is his reason for his

PDD.

And my #4 walks around the house saying " bada bada bada bada Po " , and

if you don't know where she got that, then you are sooooooo lucky, it

is the only tv show I let my kids watch, so my fault, but MUCH better

than Barney LOL.

And , you want me to write updates EVERY DAY??????? I am already

sooooo far behind in my emails, plus my housework [even with my new

" help " LOL], plus I have to stay up late just to post longer messages

on message boards, plus I was just asked to join yet ANOTHER message

board, so now I am up to 20.

YES, EVERY DAY! Except I don't know if I can handle crying over this

stuff every day.

Wa-HOOOOOO!!! They are on a roll now! That is so good Dana. Can we

move you from the Problems with Enzymes file to the Success with

Enzymes file? It will be very interesting to see how they are doing

in 2 months.

If the show where the " Po " came from has colorful blobby things fall

on their bottoms and musical sounds come out, then you are right. I

am glad we skipped them. But BARNEY? Come on. Barney was the first

show we could GET to watch and he was 2. We were probably the

only parents saying " Watch the TV. See the TV. See the funny

cartoons. " was so oblivious to anything organic, and it was

so odd he would completely ignore it. Barney had just enough dialect

to tie all the songs together. My kids liked to bounce to the songs.

As a preschooler, liked the shows Barney (songs), There Goes

a [some kind of vehicle video series], Bill Nye the Science Guy,

cooking shows, and home-repair shows. The last ones because they were

making and building stuff.

You can move me if you want to, altho I still have problems with them

for certain foods, so be honest when you move me.

My younger kids were not interested in watching tv or videos, or

looking much at books, until about 6 months ago. And they have been

only interested in animation, nothing REAL, so the fact that Po is

interesting to #4 is at least a transition step. Plus the language is

simple enough that they can actually understand some of what is being

said, Barney is too advanced for any of them right now. But now

they are interested in Pooh and Veggie Tales and the Tank

Engine on video, so that is good. I am not happy with anything on

the tv, even PBS stations, so I only let them watch the " colorful

blobby things " LOL, plus #1 still likes Mister . But #1, he is

only interested in non-fiction, and just in the last month or so

became interested in fiction.

I have EVERY LAST ONE of those " There Goes a ... " videos, they are

VERY GOOD [God bless Dave Hood], and one of the only things my #1

would watch for the longest time, because they are real things and not

fiction/fantasy.
