Hi a, Stop looking, you have the best resource info here on this list who are having to deal with these growing stages. Even though all are different in many ways, but the issue is still there when you cross this bridge. Sometimes many professionals are not respected when it comes to hearing them out at our local school district, as it takes the right person to research and observe kids like ours. Then discuss it the best way possible. Hope you and your family are feeling better. Take care. Irma,14,DS/ASD

Hi a, Glad is feeling better. I bet between your mommy duties and your outside job, you have not gotten enough rest. Sending some warm hugs and prayers that you'll get well fast. Take care. Guest guest
Hi a, I don't know what the average age for toileting is but I really think it is more a developmental age. Zeb has speech and was trained at 4. I jumped up and down like a nut each time he went in the potty. He belly laughed watching me. Zeb hates sweets and stickers too. I was happy that I worked for him. Keep trying. Zeb wet the bed last night but now I know he can do. All good things in time. Charlyne Mom to Zeb 10 DS/OCD ? Guest guest
Hi a, I have often thought of home schooling but Zeb loves the kids and can't wait to get to school. I would be doing him more of a disservice if I kept him home. I would really be isolating him even with after school activities. Zeb does have a more natural social interaction with his classmates going to school. We learned our skills from our peers and that's how Zeb is learning. I feel those interactions are vital to his developmental growth. There are some children in his school with intellectual disabilities in an isolated placement. I don't like how they are treated and what they are taught but the parents don't seem to mind or are just plain ignorant. I want more. Charlyne Mom to Zeb 10 DS/OCD ? Guest guest
maybe look into dual enrollment and he can be in any classes designated, and not miss out on any peer relations. When we homeschooled we were also part of a homeschooling group with around 200 kids and we were constantly doing group actvities of field trips, picnics games, rec center etc. But i understand your views, nathan seems to ejoy school too, even asks to go sometimes on holidays or weekends. shawna. Guest guest
well it depends on his illness, it can be just a day or several days, infact when he had that resistant psuedomonis virus he ran 102-103 daily for two months, he contracted a second virus with the psuedomonis one and had surgery etc, missed a good 2-3months of school his 2nd grade year. still frequently gets ear infections, or some type of infetion, loww immunoglobin subclasses in there somewhere. shawna. One misconception that I run into a lot is people thinking that a child with less obvious features of ds must be more capable than a child with prominent features.
