Guest guest Report post Posted August 22, 2007 Hey Moms - I would be very wary of doctors telling you to only follow up if there are problems. The E will still stretch and dilate over time, just very slowly and your kids may not feel any different. I was diagnosed and dialated at age 15, surgery at 20 and for many years I went for a barium swallow and scope every 3-5 years. Now that I'm approaching 40 and I've had A for over 25 years, I go every other year and luckily I do so I found that when my E is getting really saggy - I've got some time to check out my treatment options. Too many people here were not better advised by their doctors and by the time they sought treatment, their options were limited. It doesnt' have to control your life day to day but it won't ever go away either. I feel for you, I'm so glad it's me that has this and not my kids.
