Guest guest
Dear , I can't help thinking that this is such a heartless move from 's employers. Don't you just want to look them in the face and say "There but for the grace of god go you" ?????? It will be interesting to see if improves away from this job which has been such a source of stress to him. I still think it is very likely that this has contirbuted a great deal towards his problems. It would be wonderful, really wonderful, if some good came out of this and he saw a good improvement. The anger and distress now would all be worth it. Let us hope. GOOD LUCK TO YOU BOTH. Guest guest
, I don’t think most people understand the effects of these kind of disorders. You know why? Because they don’t have to deal with it. Sometimes people can be so heartless when it comes to medical problems, they eventually act like you created it, or its something you did, that has been my experience so far. Guest guest
Yeah , you go girl !!! Let's all have a jolly good rant, vent, moan, shout - about people who don't try to understand. I had to stand my ground with my last boss who could not understand why I could not work for 5 hours straight through (pre-myotomy) without anything to eat or drink. I did not give up the fight and won my corner, but not everyone had the stamina or the assertiveness to do that. I KNOW that bosses have their profts to make, their targets to keep, but for goodness sake they have real people working for them, not b........y robots !!!!! Guest guest
Ann///Pippa , Yes..you all are right.. but unfortunately, nobody understand this unless they themselves or their family members have gone through this.. I am a boss of my company, and let me confess that I was exactly the same..not understanding such difficulties of people.. But, now I understand it....bcoz my son is going through this.. I felt nice to confess this... Mukesh Re: Work Woes Update Ann, , and Pippa, Thank you all for your kind words! Guest guest
le, That was Ann from England who wrote that and she is so right! My husband, , felt a lot of pressure from his work, especially this past summer and we really think the anxiety made his condition worse. They all want to know when you're coming back to work and yet they don't fully understand your disease. For , his foreman seemed to be lurking about and scrutinizing his work (almost looking for a reason to get rid of him, so they wouldn't have to deal with his illness), which only added to his anxiety. You are in the U.S., right? Have you checked into the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)? had that for a while, which allows you 12 weeks a year off, unpaid, if you have a documented illness preventing you from working. took his on an intermittant basis, when he was having his severe spasms. Good luck with your work issues! in Michigan P.S. I kinda like Idol, too. > > I don't know who wrote this part: > 'I KNOW that bosses have their profts to make, their targets to keep, but for goodness sake they have real people working for them, not b........y robots !!!!!' > But it certainly rings true in my case, I feel pressure because I am off work and people emailing me asking if I am coming back, stuff like that, it just makes my anxiety worse, I just want to get better. > Unfortunately, most companies treat us like a number. > le

Guest guest
Notan, As always your post has given me food for thought. I wonder if I would've done any better in a similar situation (as 's boss). We're all human and at times too centered on ourselves to notice another's plight (especially if we don't understand what they're suffering from). I'll try to keep that in mind while dealing with others and thinking of his employer. Helping others is certainly a therapy! Over the last six years, when my family has struggled with terrible illnesses for my mother and now the frustration of not finding a good treatment for , I've felt that going to work was therapy for me. While I'm working with a dental patient, sometimes I hear some terrible things that have happened to them or their family and it puts things in perspective for me. Some I can actually give advice to, based on my life experiences, and then I feel great! Thanks for your support, Notan! in Michigan > > > ...
