Guest guest
Hi Charmaine buy the way that is a pretty name. Anyway I don't get that kind of pain but my system seems to be super slow compared to people with out " A " I am begining to wonder about alot of things and it seems to me that people with " A " seem to be more open to other health problems. I would call your GI since they deal with the whole GI track. That way if there is something wrong then he/she can be on top of it all not just one thing I find it easier to deal with less DR. the more one knows the better they can relay it to the other DR. good luck. Guest guest
hey Charmaine - you know - this happens to me once in a very great while but only for a minute or 2, then it goes away and I'm fine again. I've never been able to figure out a pattern and otherwise the rest of my GI tract seems fine. I generally don't have problems with being constipated or anything. Please let me (and everyone else) know what you find out. Happy Swallowing! (should I add happy pooping? lol) - in Va. -- In achalasia , " Charmaine " <blackshinydog@...> wrote: > > Hi all > This is not the nicest of subjects but it's really worrying me so here > goes: > For the last 3 days I've had a constant pain inside my rectum. Guest guest
Charmaine, Sorry to hear of your latest problem! A couple of years before my husband started to have symptoms of DES, he had rectal pain. He went to his internist who suspected irritable bowel syndrome. He prescribed Nitroglycerine to help with the rectal pain (what a coincidence, since a GI doc later gave that to my husband for E spasms). I don't know if it's related to E motility problems or not, but irritable bowel could be a possible explanation. Good luck! in Michigan
Guest guest
Charmaine, I'm a little late with this but I am listing a couple of Web sites below. Read these and see if this might be the type of pain you are experiencing: Entrez PubMed or http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve & db=PubMed & list_uids=11329578 & dopt=Abstract And this copied from another site: Interstitial cells of Cajal (ICCs) are pacemaker cells in the smooth muscle layer of the gastrointestinal tract; these cells generate slow waves and facilitate active propagation of electrical events, and they mediate neurotransmission.8–11 Interstitial cells of Cajal are present along the gastrointestinal tract from the esophagus to the anorectum as networks of cells associated with neuronal plexuses within the gut musculature, where they are connected to each other by long processes via gap junctions. They are also found dispersed within the circular muscle layer, including the internal anal sphincter (IAS).8–11 The transmembrane tyrosine-kinase receptor c-Kit is a specific marker for ICCs and mast cells in the gastrointestinal tract.12,13 c-Kit and its ligand, the cytokine stem cell factor, form a trophic system that is required for the development of ICCs.12,13 Immunohistochemistry using a c-Kit antibody provides a selective technique for labeling ICCs in the gastrointestinal tract.8–13 Defect of the c-kit/stem cell factor system in animals (rats, mice) results in a lack of ICC development, causing motility dysfunction and failure to thrive.13 Distribution of Interstitial Cells of Cajal in the Internal Anal Sphincter of Patients With Internal Anal Sphincter Achalasia. Guest guest
Hello, my name is Glenda and I live in Nova Scotia Canada. I have suffered over the years with not just " A " (diag. Oct/98) but a general slowdown of my entire GI system. I've always been slow, if you know what I mean, but it was for the most part managable with diet, etc. After my " A " diag. it got worse in a very short time. In fact after a dialation in Oct/98 I had to go to emerg. b/c I was so constipated and I was throwing up. I was put on domperidone and I now take Colyte ( yes, the same stuff used for bowel prep before x-rays)every night. It's not perfect but it's managable. I had a myotomy in May/06 and wound up in emerg. again with bloating and nausea 1 1/2 weeks after the surgery. I was diag. with pseudo-obstruction, given an NG tube and nothing to eat for a few days until things resolved. I believe this is all connected, but whenever I question the docs. they say they don't know what's causing it. I was also diag. with very high blood pressure these last few months. I'm 49 yrs., don't smoke, not overweight, and drink very litle. I believe as well that this is somehow connected with an overall problem with my autonomic system. Any comments? Guest guest
Hi Santino, I've had lots of constipation in years past, but never ongoing pain inside. It could be an ulcer or bump of some sort. It's really important to get chected by a doctor. People with disabilities who have difficulty with bathrooming are far more vulnerable to bladder and colon cancer. Regarding laxatives, drinking lots of water really helps if stools are hard. My problem is more with muscle strength. I use water soluble bisacodyl suppositories. Unfortunately, all brands but one that I know of are not water soluble so melt very slowly and then make me have an accident hours later. I use Magic Bullet Suppositories that I buy on-line. Quadruplegics I know swear by them. For a box of 100 I pay as low as $45. Many companies charge over $100. I hope you get some relief soon. Alana > > Due to chronic constipation, I take Lactulose regularly as a stool softener. No problems for years. Recently, I have gotten a sore sensation in my rectal area. My PCA does not see any visual sores or even redness which leads me to believe it is inside. I read that the muscles may be inflamed from possible straining when going to the bathroom. Has anyone ever suffered from these symptoms? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. >
