Guest guest Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 Again, I need some support and feedback from my wonderful friends at this site. I had my first balloon dilation on Thursday and I gradually felt better and realized I can swallow! However, I woke up at about 4 am on Saturday morning, turned over in bed and had a huge spasm. I haven't had that in a long time. It seemed like I had 2 more spasms before they went away. (I finally put on a nitro patch that my previous Gastroenterologist had given me.) I was fine the rest of the day. The same thing happened this morning at 5 am in my sleep. I am also getting noisy bubbles of gas. I called Hopkins yesterday and spoke to one of the doctors. He reminded me that reflux can set in after the dilation and this might be causing my spasms. (Of course, he asked me how I know they weren't heart spasms and I told him I was familiar with these - they are esophageal spasms!) He told me to keep taking Nexium. Has anyone else had these after this procedure? Will they become less frequent as I recover? Any advice or knowledge would be helpful. Right now I am feeling discouraged because one thing was fixed and another is hurting!!! Kathy P.S. I am grateful that I can swallow and I am hoping that lasts! Quote
