At Duke they said midnight. From what I read dont eat solids at least one day before surgery. Drink liquids. It si important to keep esop clear. Good surfing and good luck. You will live a long life!

i feel welcome!

Well, I am having the surgery lapro and it is my first surgery ever soI am pretty nervous. I'm only 19 and I was diagnosed when I was 17, mydoctor said I am his youngest case. He has done a lot of heller's soi'm not worried about him.i do worry about having a second surgery and all that but I've noticedthat the second surgery ordeal usually occurs in people a lot olderthan myself. I'm really anxious to see what my recovery time is likebecause it will be at the end of my winter break and I will be goingback to school in the middle of the quoted 10 day recovery. Luckilythe first week is always boring introductory stuff...All I do activity wise is surf and I have accepted the fact that Iwill be out of the water for a while. Hence me receiving the surgeryat the end of the break. I'm going to surf like crazy until the surgery!!One question...how long before the actual surgery do you have to stopeating and doing other things such as smoking or drinking??Thanks everyone for replying, I will definitely keep posting so I canreceive advice. It's really releaving to know there are a lot morepeople with achalasia than I thought. in Long Beach
