Guest guest
Well, you got me there! LOL. I'm sure if you do a search, you can find even more. But my understanding is that vigorous A is NOT typical. I used to think it just meant the condition progressed more quickly, but apparently if you have vigorous A, you have stronger, non-peristaltic contractions with high amplitude in the E. there are 3 types of contractions (I think) in the E during swallowing. Peristaltic contractions are those we think of pushing the food down, even if we are hanging upside down. As A progresses, you lose these contractions. However, apparently with vigorous A, your other contractions go a little nutso. Now, what I don't know is....do those vigorous contractions help push food down? Or are they the contractions some of us have experienced that make the food come back up??? And are they related to spasms in any way?? NOTAN???
