For me, the symptoms would come and go all the time. Which was the reason I never went to a doctor. I figured it wasn't anything serious if the symptoms would go away. I finally had a SEVERE spasm while in the doctors office for another problem(sinus) and was put in the hospital for 5 days. They first thought it was a heart attack, but when they ruled that out, they wanted to find the problem before releasing me. Anyway, I think it is normal for the symptoms to recede, but the actual disease just keeps on going.
Guest guest
Hello Biljana, My symptoms vary greatly from day to day. It is ALMOST always at it's worse in the morning (Breakfast is almost always DREADFUL). It isn't going to get markedly better, however if it is left untreated you run a VERY high risk of thinning your " E " and it becomes riskier and riskier. This risk is the main reason I have decided to find myself a surgeon and have it treated in the " very near " future. Hopefully when this semester ends I will be scheduled for surgery (don't want to ruin the Holiday Season for my family though, so probably JUST after January 1!). I don't know much about " A " (does anyone really?), but I know I don't want to risk having my " E " removed. I hope this helped you. Guest guest
Hi Biljana, Have you had a barium x-ray? Did you see the x-rays? How much is your oesophagus stretched beyond the normal. Once the oesophagus starts getting stretched you need urgent treatment because once it is very stretched the success of any procedure is no as good as it would be if you went during the early stages. If you are having the problems you say you are having then I would be bold enough to say that you need treatment very soon. Do find a good gastroenterologist who has experience with the condition because their expertise is crucial to success. the same goes for surgery, get the most experienced surgeon with this condition specifically that you can find. Joan Achalasia and progression Could somebody please tell me how far Achalasia progresses as in symptoms before you have any treatment. My symptoms have steadily worsened to the point that for the previous two weeks I have found it very difficult to eat and drink anything other than water, and i have had NCCP's every night. But for the last few days I have still had problems eating and drinking but it hasnt been as severe and have managed to eat my entire meals with lots of water. Is it usual for symptoms to vary from day to day? I know it can go from bad to worse but can it get better?Biljana Silke
