Guest guest
Abigail - I get horrible mouth ulcers. Worsened by stress and PMS. I have asked doctors & dentists for help for years and nothing has really been that effective. It is soooo frustrating....you want a food you can actually swallow (like orange juice), but it would rip your mouth up worse. FINALLY - at my last GI visit, my doc was reviewing some tests I had had and he said, " Your body is low on Lysine - do you get mouth ulcers? " I literally yelled, " I LOVE YOU! " . I RAN to Walmart, picked up a bottle of Lysine tablets for $2.50 and take 2/day. When I have outbreaks, I take 4 (keep in mind, the doc told me to do this because I know I'm low on it). I told my sister this story and she said she has the same problem & has been taking Lysine for years. She puts the tablet right on the sore and holds it there for a few minutes until it starts to dissolve, then she swallows it with some water. I have tried this and it shortens the duration of the ulcers by several days. I hope this helps you. It is a horrible frustration....as if Achalasia isn't enough!! Lysine is known to prevent the herpes virus (cold sores) from causing sores. It prevents the virus from replicating. On the other hand, arginine promotes sores. This is probably true of other related viruses also, but much less is written about the connection with them. People that are prone to these sores are advised to eat low arginine diets. There is a lot about this on the internet. Guest guest
Abigail -- I suffered from chronic tonsillitis for years, and finally talked someone into removing my tonsils when I was 28 years old. Best thing I could've done.... I just wish I could've convinced someone that I really *needed* to have them out a dozen years earlier -- sure would have saved me a whole ton of money for doctor visits, antibiotics, and time lost from work!Hope you're feeling better now. Debbi Hey cindi, Thank you so much! I just went to 3 doc yesterday and one of them said the same thing. Also I have a very server case of tonsilitis they had to put me on antibiotics and steriods. Ihaven't been able to break the feavers. I am so glad that u all are here to help. Thanks so much abigail
