Guest guest
Hello just_wm In reference to your comment: Yes it was Dr. L. Slaughter at the UAB Kirklin clinic. He was a great guy. I am going to talk with him again in Nov. I cant remember if we started with a 3 or 3.5 cm dilation. Unfortunately I am going to need to do it again realatively soon. I agree with you he is a great guy. I have seen him for other procedures treatments in the past 4 year that was not Achalasia related and he has been great each time. He never rushes and as you say takes all the time you need to explain and answer questions. Do you live in Alabama? I am in Montgomery. I would be interested in knowing who your surgeon is. Is he in Birmingham too? Feel free to email me off the board if you'd like. Maggie Alabama
Guest guest
, I was sedated when they did the dilatation. I don't recall feeling any pain at all and my doctor does not believe in giving more than is needed. I was awake soon after and felt fine. My throat was a bit sore, but not more than with a normal endocopy. I rode home about an hour and a half's drive and went about my normal routine. Of course my husband did the driving. Hope this helps, Maggie Alabama

Guest guest
Maggie - Yes, I am in North Alabama. Hartselle just south of Decatur. The surgeon I originaly went to was Dr. Lovelady in Cullman. I never had him do anything to me. He was the one that ordered all the tests that finally diagnosed it. When I talked with him about the surgery he said he could do it but that if he was me he would go to someone with more experience. He is a good guy that seems to know what he is doing. I think he does more GERD type of sureries and other general type stuff. If I needed a general type cutter I would go back to him. I would stay away from the folks I delt with in Huntsville. I wont say names because my mom taught me better than that. My Grandmother and Great Aunt is in Montgomery. Bill
