Guest guest
i already had one, it's just that i can't really eat food again. i have trouble even swallowing water. The test showed that the food can go down it just sits in my e for so long before exiting to my stomach. I just wanted to know if the muscle could grow back and u have to have a 2 mytomy. And if that isn't the case what is reason to have a secound one since the first didn't help much. It helped for a while but it is really bad againjade_tessa@... wrote: I'm confused, have you had a myotomy once already? It's a common procedure for Achalasia, and many believe that it is wise to go straight to the surgery and bi-pass dilations and botox. Some perfer to try the less invasive methods first.-Jess> > How Do you know if you need a secound one done. Is the spincter > closed again or is it due to slow motility? Please let me know. Guest guest
Abigail I had the same thing happen...I had a myotomy and within 4 months it was worse than it was to begin with. In my case my doc didn't know what he was doing and did what they call an incomplete myotomy. He cut to much in one place and not enough in another. Not to say thats whats wrong with you..just letting you know things can happen. I would get a second opinion. Where did you go for your first myotomy? I took procardia until i had my open 2nd myotomy, it helped to relax the e some so i could get something down to my stomach. Hope things work out for you soon. I know what its like to get frustrated. in IndianaAbigail Montgomery <abigailstar24@...> wrote: i already had one, it's just that i can't really eat food again. i have trouble even swallowing water. Guest guest
Hi Abigail, The lower oesophageal muscle (LES) cannot grow back but the scar tissue on the cut can contract and you are left with a small opening which cannot stretch. Sometimes this can be opened with a dilatation, but unless the scar tissue or muscle is torn to the required width it will not be effective. This must be done by some one with experience.
