Guest guest
Hi Jan, How did Priceline end up putting you so far out? Last time I used Priceline I got the Hilton just 7 miles away and it was wonderful! This time I plugged in the same price and stars and got Holiday Inn - only 4 miles away downtown but it was filthy - YUCK! My husband just wrote Priceline and told them that we have stayed at better 1 star hotels and that they should remove it from their listings as it could not possibly meet standards. I don't know how uncomfortable a " j " tube is....but it doesn't sound like it could be any fun so I bet you are happy to be getting rid of it. Good for you. I am on the soft foods for 2 months...then I can slowly re- introduce other stuff. But, soft foods includes soft meats and meats made into casseroles and meatloaf, and eggs etc. Quite a good variety, but still excludes my favorite Cobb Salad and I won't get to go with my friends to their big Country Club shin dig in 3 weeks because it is a filet/lobster deal.....so Taco Bell bean cup here I come! Jan, I am excited for you getting that J tube out and progressing! Joy Its a shame you had such a bad hotel to stay in. My daughter and I will be > staying in a tt hotel in Westlake. (I think it's about a 1/2 hr. from the > clinic) I also used priceline. My appt is on Monday morning and thats the > only way I figured I could do it. Cleveland is about a 5hr drive for me. > Any way, how are you feeling now? Are you supposed to be just on a soft > food diet? > Jan in NKY
Guest guest
Joy, Back from seeing Dr. Rice at TCC. He is sooo very nice, isn't he?! He asked me about going back to work, and I told him that I had hoped really to go back to work this Friday, but that my energy level just isn't that good yet, and since I've only been off the feeding tube since the 23rd, I'm only 60%up to my normal energy level. He told me to call him in two weeks, but thought by Oct 18th, I'd be good. Although he also told me that I might need another endoscope and stretching the esoph again if foods predictably are sticking. But I don't want to make another 5 hr. drive up and back!!! Besides, now my son's are both back in college and I'd have no driver to accompany me. So, I've got to be swallowing just fine. I am willing myself to!! Priceline worked fine for me, except you were right about the area. I wish I knew what area in Cleveland is best to stay closest to the clinic, that has nice decent hotels. I stayed in a Marriott suites hotel for $40.00, so that wasn't too bad, and it was about 1/2 hr from the CC. I'm glad to hear your swallowing is doing well. Keep up the good work. Don't worry you'll be ready for lobster and filet before you know it!!! Guess what? I ate a Mc 's hamburger on the drive home from Cleveland! I think it was an isolated moment of good swallowing, but at least I know that maybe good swallowing does lie ahead!! Take care, Jan from Northern Kentucky
