Joy, Those appoinments to see the doctor can take really long. Before I was discharged, I had to wait at least an hour past my appointment time to see the doctor. Maybe it was just that day, but I feel like it might be the standard. They are really busy there. Jan
Guest guest
Hi Jan, Yes, I just called them and they said that I would have the pre-op tests Tue.and the proceedure on Wed. morning and then have a barium swallow on Thur. morning and be discharged following but need to stay locally. Then, Friday return and after a check with the Dr. Friday am clear to return home if all is normal. So, all in all...you are right.....that makes 3 nights total. Does anyone have any experinece with how long that Friday appt. takes? Are you out fairly early or is it one of those where you are scheduled late and you wait all day type things? I would hate to have to start a 3 hour drive late in the day. Maybe I should get an extra night just to be on the safe side. How should you feel by this third day? Some people sound like they are feeling great. I can hardly believe they have had surgery at all. If I had had the surgery locally here they make it sound like such a BIG DEAL...with a morphine drip, and a stomoch vacuum, and no food after for 2 days, and in the hospital for 3 days, and then no lifting 5# for 6 weeks etc etc etc. But at CC they make it sound like a tooth cleaning.
