I had the tube removed Tuesday morning, and the test results were

negative for reflux. So now I'm scheduled for a manometry on the 10th,

and an endoscopy w/dilatation on Aug 31st. Hmmmm...we'll see how tough I

am when it comes time for the dilatation! I've NEVER had a dilatation

before, and to have my first dilatation at the site of my myotomy is

just plain terrifying to me.

I'll gladly go in and have the manometries and 24 hour ph studies for

you all if you go have the dilatation for me! Hahaha ;-)

Sandi,

You don't feel a thing ! Afterward you may have a sore throat from the tube and not much more than heartburn -if that- nothing a mild pain pill won't sort out. Keep to soft stuff and liquids for a day or so just to let it settle down.

I was a bit knocked out from the anaesthetic and cold but just curled up in bed with a hot pad and was fine a few hours later. A piece of cake after the manometry and pH study !

Hugs,

Joan

Joan,

Thank you so much for your advice and

support. It means a lot to me. I sure do hope it turns out to be a piece of

cake like you say. :-)

I think what I’m mostly concerned

about is the risk of perforation because I perforated during surgery and I’m

just really afraid it might happen again. I’m ok with the endoscopy, but I required a lot of medication to keep me

out last time. I remember waking up in the middle of my last endoscopy and I was gagging, so hopefully that won’t

happen again, but I don’t know if they’ll want to anesthetize me

quite so much this time because of my sleep apnea. My oxygen saturation levels

drop really low with anesthesia, and I was told to make them aware of the fact

that I have sleep apnea.

Hmmm…I think I better stop thinking

about all this because I’m giving myself more things to worry about now!

Well, as long as I remain out of it

through the procedure, and my surgeon is close by, I think I’ll be fine!

Hugs!

Sandi - I had forgotten about your sleep apnoea. They need to know about it. Yes I do understand about the fear of perforation - it is one of mine as well and my surgeon is not nearby !!. I certainly will be praying hard for you! I think that they can choose a different anaesthetic to keep you oxygen levels OK and still keep you under. Anaesthetics have improved a huge amount.

Big Hugs
