He would dearly love to be Spiderman... or a butterfly!!!! (The irony of this is lost on him......)Pepto Deb, who would come to Joy's house for Halloween but we STILL have candy from 's haul in our neighborhood last year Sandi wrote....... I always loved making Halloween costumes for my kids, but my boys are getting too old for that now! What? They are too old to eat candy? (4?) Because my boys did their own " get-ups " this year. Really kinda made me somehow sad to be " put out to pasture " when they are still just 10 & 12 yr olds. But the 12 yr old wanted to be a baby riding on a Grandmas back (optical illusion thing) and then the 10 yr. old wanted to take the same idea but be a cowboy riding a gorilla. He discovered e-bay and bid $5 on his gorilla mask, feet and hand....yep, I think it went cheap because there was only 1 hand. You couldn't tell there was only one hand because he tied the arms together under his legs. He didn't even put a zipper down the back of his one piece hairy suit - just safety pins (I didn't teach him that)! The irony is....my kids are not that " into " the candy either..just love going around fetching it. I think we still have a pillowcase of it around here somewhere too. (Don't worry - we DON'T recycle it on next years crowd!) Joy > Sandi wrote....... I always loved making Halloween costumes for my > kids, but my boys are getting too old for that now! > > What? Yep, another couple of weeks and he'll officially be 4 and a half. ) I've got several more years of him playing dress-up! ) Because my boys did their own "get-ups" this year. Really kinda made me somehow sad to be "put out to pasture" when they are still just 10 & 12 yr olds. How neat that they're resourceful and responsible enough to take on that task themselves!!!! I know it's kinda hard to let go of doing that, but it means that you've done a great job raising them! ( can now open/close his own car doors and fasten his 5-pt harness on his car seat.... I must admit that I both miss him being a 'baby' but also love the extra time gained by not having to do it for him every time we go somewhere!) The irony is....my kids are not that "into" the candy either..just love going around fetching it. I think we still have a pillowcase of it around here somewhere too. (Don't worry - we DON'T recycle it on next years crowd!) LOL -- we don't "recycle" ours either, with the exception of I do put Halloween candy in his Christmas Stocking and his Easter Basket and he's none the wiser! He'll eat a piece or two for a day or two, but then it's out of mind, out of sight, ya know? )Pepto-Deb
Guest guest
Well, my boys won’t wear costumes anymore…they just put on different masks and go to the “good” houses over and over again with different masks! I do like to make costumes for my dogs. I have 2 Golden Retrievers. My 3 year “Cody” old was a pumpkin last year, and this will be the first Halloween for my puppy. Her name is Angel and she’s more like a Tasmanian Devil, so I’m not sure what kind of costume I’ll make for her. I love making butterfly costumes! Melani (my only daughter who was mad at me for YEARS for giving her so many brothers) was a butterfly one year. If wants to be a butterfly, I’d be happy to make him a costume! My favorite costume I made was a Shark Costume from some silly cartoon several years ago. I think they were skateboarding sharks…can’t remember for sure anymore, but it was a cool costume. I also like to make banners. I made a really cool banner a couple of years ago for Little League and won 1st Place. The local photography studio was the sponsor, and the team was “The Marlins”, so I had a Marlin jumping out of the diaphragm of a camera. It was a 3-D effect. I dressed up as a Pirate for Halloween last year….Arrrrrrg! LOL Sandi Re: OT Sandi & sewing Well then, will you sew me a Pepto-Bismol costume???
