- welcome to the group! How old is your Dad & where is he located?? Depending on his age and care, botox injections or surgery would be viable options to help ease his struggles with the disease.

There is a listing on this site of some foods that work for certain people. Everyone is different, though & really, experimenting will help him a lot. yes, pureed things go down better usually...and soft foods. Plenty (I mean PLENTY) of water - he probably knows that. Some people have found success drinking a bit of carbonated beverage, letting it sit & then "whoosh!" things open up. Others can't do carbonation at all.

Stress can be a factor. I have greatly increased problems with spasms when under stress or PMS (hopefully he doesn't have that problem! lol!).

As for other drugs, what is he on? Maybe Boston Pete can help with that as he is in the pharmaceutical industry. Just post a note to him with the name of the med. Some can help, depending on his symptoms, but my first inclination is to suggest seeing a physician who has dealt with this regularly and to check out botox and surgery as options.

Keep posting, we will try to help out! Cindi in Pennsylvania, USA
