Guest guest
Dennis, I apologize for not putting an " OT " in my subject line on this one, but although it's not an achalasia-related post, I do think it's something that is of interest to the members here. The problem of some posts not coming through, being delayed, coming through in the wrong order, etc., is something that has been mentioned this week, and the official message from is something that wouldn't have been seen by people who get posts through email instead of reading on the website. As for everyone being interested in " pure information " , that's not ALL that this board is about. This is a *support* board -- sometimes we just want to rant and rave to people who REALLY understand what achalasia is about. A lot of us are friends, and we care about how the other people are doing. That's not " pure information " (facts and figures, etc) but it *is* related to our achalasia, and IMO it's topical to discuss our emotional well-being with those who care. Many of these types of posts are directed to the person involved by putting their name in the subject line. If your message refers to the biblical discussion going back and forth, that actually started as a topical message and kind of morphed, but I believe the subject line ended up getting an " OT " in it after a while. If you don't want to read " endless chit chat " nobody is forcing you to. If something says " OT " in the subject line, that means OFF TOPIC and you don't have to read it if you don't want to. If something says " " or " " or " Debbi " or " " or anyone's name in the subject line, that means it's directed mainly at that person (to say thanks, ask a question, etc.) and you don't have to read it if you don't want to. Oh, and for the record, your message isn't about achalasia, but you don't have an " OT " in your subject line, either. We've had little tiffs a couple times a year on this subject and similar ones (like sharing pictures, etc.) The general consensus has always been that the majority of us don't want this to be a completely clinical, facts-and-figures type of board. We come her for information, yes, but we also come here for support -- and that's something that requires people, not just numbers and research. There are plenty of different ways to get " pure information " without reading the message board -- do a web search, or just read all the links in the Links Section. But I can't get human-to-human support from a link, and I can get that here on this board, and for that I am grateful. Anyone else care to share their opinions on this subject? Am I out of line? Does everyone else think we should limit this board to " pure information " only? Debbi in Michigan dennis matt <iopt182@...> wrote: > I suggest people stop using this forum for endless chit chat.
