Guest guest
Hi and welcome neighbor. I live in Alabama. I spent 15 years in Gulfport, MS, and loved it. Where in MS do you live? I am sorry you have Achalasia but so glad you found this group. It is nice to be able to talk to people that understand the weird things we have to deal with. As Cindi said, if you start on the group site and read from the files and database you will find lots of information that members have posted there including doctor recommendations. It is very important that you find a doctor that has some experience in treating Achalasia. Not all doctors understand this disease. My doctor is at UAB in Birmingham. Feel free to ask any specific questions you have. There are no silly questions. Maggie Alabama

Guest guest
, I am sorry, it has been many years since I lived in MS, so I don't know any doctors there. You are about 200 miles I think from Birmingham and if you think you would be able to drive there I would be glad to send you my Doctors name and phone number. After you have your barium swallow, if they think it is Achalasia and want to do further testing you could call or have your doctor call and set up the appointment. If you explain that you are driving from Hattisburg, they can set up the EGD and the manometry test all the same day. That did that for me. Let me know if I can help you.
