- My manometry

Hi ,

I just returned from Nijmegen where the performed the manometry. It wasn't as bad as the gastroscopy. I told the doctor who was performing the manometry that the opening to my stomach would be very hard to find but he didn't believe me. I also told the doctor and the nurse that I would probably be throwing up since I also did it during the gastroscopy. Well, just to be safe they gave me a little bowl to throw up in. Well, within seconds of the little scope being in my E I started gagging and throwing up. First thing I thought was 'I told you so'. I always have fluids & food in my E because my A is in an advanced stage. Well, the gagging stopped and then he said the little scopy thingie had to go in my stomach.....well, they couldnt get it in my stomach. They tried three times and then gave up. Again I thought......'I told you so'.

Then I had to lie down and take sips of water.......if there is one thing I cannot do, is lie down and drink at the same time. It's just impossible. I also told them this but they didn't listen so after about 7 sips of water, I started choking. So, they decided not to give me sips of water anymore and I just had to swallow without water.

As you can guess the testresulsts are inconclusive. They are now going to take a good look at all my test-results (the bariumswallow, gastroscopy and the manometry) and then make a decision about which treatment or operation will help me best.

To be honoust........the manometry isn't all that bad. Dont worry about it. I just have the big disadvantage of having fluids & food in my E all the time. That makes it difficult for me. I decided that for my next gastroscopy of manometry, I am going to throw up before I go to the hospital. It will make the tests much easier to do.

I hope I didn't scare you with this story. If you dont have advanced A, this test will be a breeze.

Well, Good luck to you. I will be thinking of you. Do you think only doing liquids will make the test easier? I will consider that if it makes it easier. I guess if there is nothing in your stomach to throw up, the gagging wont be so bad.
