The reason you are going into a blank chat room is because nobody is

there! You are doing it right, so pat yourself on the back. We

usually chat on Saturday nights at 7:00 pm CST; however, maybe we

should schedule a few more regular chats too???

How about an earlier one sometimes that us Brits can participate in?

At the moment 8.00pm EST works out as 2.00AM for us!!

Jill,

2:00 am is a bad time??? LOL What about 1:00 EST? I think that would

be 9:00 pm for you? How is that time for others? We could have two on

Saturdays.

Uh oh, I might actually have to participate. I always had a good

excuse on Saturday nights (husband time), but I don't have one for the

day. I guess I better learn how to " chat. "

I agree with Susi...I love Saturday night chats, but usually Saturday nights now I have friends over and it gets so hard to have company and be chatting with my Tae-Bo friends at the same time (Example...last Saturday..I was there and then poof I was gone ....I meant to apologize for that too guys and I never did!) Maybe we should add at least one in the middle of the week (Wednesday nights?)

Elena...once you chat a few times it gets easier....for the chat room we have it is pretty simple since we only have to type in what we want to say and hit Enter for it to go in!! You'll get the hang of it!!

Who would love to have Elena join in on chats !!

Dear Friends, I thought I would write a letter to bring everyone up-to-date on the situation here in Muncie. is now moved into his apartment which is within walking distance of the university. He has even gotten a few things of his from the house. He has applied for interim help with rent and utilities from the local township. He has also applied for Section 8 and will receive his voucher for local rent assistance next Wednesday. He also applied for SSI, but with the federal government involved, it may take until September for that to come through. Of course they told him it would be retroactive to the first of June this year, so one way or another, his rent and expenses should be covered. has been in touch with one of his professors who has offered him some unpaid work as her assistant in a project she is working on. She hopes to be able to get graduate privileges for him in the library which might include a small private office in which to work. He has been in touch with his cousin in Boston to have his computer shipped back to Muncie so he should be able to get on the internet soon. is trying out a plan to help him spend less time in the bathroom. He plans to go twice a week on the same days each time. His first time doing this - last week - he was out in 11 hours, a big improvement on the two and a half weeks just prior to that. Today is his second try at coming out more quickly. I will be interested in seeing how he does. (He took longer, but still less than 2 days. Then he picked up his car and took it back with him. And I even got a second kiss on the forehead!) also has a new driver’s license and should be picking up his car any day now. (Did on Thurs.) This will give him freedom to get around by himself. is still visiting him almost daily to bring him things and some times just to visit. But has also been in touch with some of his local friends, one of whom has offered to help him put his do-it-yourself furniture back together. He claims he is still angry with me for not allowing him back in the house, but he did give me a kiss on the forehead last week. I am hoping that he is getting used to the idea that he is now going to be living in a place of his own, but that it does not mean that I will not have contact with him. I am also hoping that has given up any idea of letting back into the house for anything more that to just get more of his belongings. So, hopefully, I will be heading to Massachusetts for a vacation with my sister and her children and grandchildren. I am looking forward to seeing everyone again in Denver! Dear ,

I am looking forward to seeing everyone in Denver. Just made our

reservations tonight. I wish felt like coming, but perhaps if he

continues to improve, he may feel more like it next year. He's still putting

his apartment in order and getting signed up with all the proper agencies.

But is coming this year. Says he just has to meet everyone he has heard

about. See you soon. And thanks for all the good wishes!

, I can't say enough good things about Judevine.

If it were not for their techniques my daughter would

not be where she is today.

In what area of St. Louis do you live? Does your

daughter receive services from the Regional Center

there?

Welcme back Pam;

Glad youre doing well. We missed you, in the mean time stacy is back and doing well at home got a new ICD and her old one is being engraved as a memo of a retired soldier(did its job and many times.) and hope to keep you in the group for long time to come just for your input and experiences. TURK

Hi all -- After being "off" for awhile, it sure is good toread all your messages & catch up with what'sgoing on with everyone. So glad to hear you're doing better, Stacie --and now your Dad is "one of us" -- welcometo the group! Chet, welcome to this elite bunch of ICD-ers!After my implant, the doc said to keep that sling on for two weeks(darned pesky thing, the sling, that is); no raising my arm above shoulder height; no lifting anythingover 1 or 2 #; and nodriving for a month (because of the possibilityof sudden steering wheel turns yanking the lead out). Sorry to hear you've had so muchdiscomfort. My incision site was quite uncomfortable for a long time,it seemed, withswelling & some bruising. It's okay now, ofcourse, 7 months later, but still quite sensitiveto pressure. I hope you heal quickly, with noproblems. Last week I had my ICD read -- all's well.No pacing, no shocks. Thank the Lord! While waiting for my appointment, I met aman who had just had his ICD implantedthe week before. I saw him again todayat the store, & like a bonehead I didn't thinkto tell him about this group. Hopefully, I'll seehim again before too long & let him knowabout us. Bob, I'm glad you're willing to share your"rambling" with the rest of us. Don't knowabout anyone else, but it helps me feel moreconnected when someone just "talks". I'm oneof those people who would rather listen, orshuts down & isolates when in distress or pain. Not good. Other times, though, ya can't shutme up....! I can really identify with what yousaid about being so depressed after getting theimplant -- it was the same way with me. Thankgoodness you all were here during that darktime & for the encouragement & support youoffered. (For anti-depressants, too. Some ofus need that as well...) Sharon, don't you just adore that little baby!Grandchildren are one of the best things onGod's green earth! You have such a goodway with words -- I'm still chuckling aboutyour phrase "sends you a toothless grin & a coo" -- such a picture it puts in the mind! God bless to all.~Pam in AK Please visit the Zapper homepage athttp://www.ZapLife.org

It's usual and customary in the PT arena. Isn't it amazing that they can $25 for moist heat and we get nickeled and dimed to pieces??

I think it's typical for kids to be afraid of the cough machine.

Especially very young kids. It's loud and is blowing large volumes of

air into them. We never got one until Jordan was 8 because they weren't

a very popular item at that time, so he never really had that resistive

stage. However, she needs to get use to it. The machine will save her

life, and will definitely speed recoveries from colds while reducing

hospital stays as well.

By the way, dehydration is bad. We found out the hard way that it can

mask a chest infection into what may seem an asthma like bout. A couple

years ago this happened with Jordan, and once he was rehydrated it blew

up into pneumonia.

Sierra went into the Hospital on Friday Morning, she had a cold and then

she

started not being able to keep anything down not even water, so her Dr

said to

bring her to the ER, she was dehydrated, when we first brought her in

she

would not talk or even open her eyes....after a bag of IV's and

something to keep

her tummy from getting sick, she slowly started to get a little more

aware of

what was going on. After lots of Blood work and 6 IV's later she got to

go

home on Sunday afternoon! She is still not eating much but is drinking

liquids

and keeping everything down! Sierra Dr said that she should be ok after

a few

days of rest!

Please help..? Should I use the Cough machine on her even if she is

freaking

out, I don't want to hurt her or make things worse, she does not like

having

anything to do with ther Nebulizer or the caugh machine, let alone the

suction

machine which we have not yet tried?? Any suggestions? Do all kids hate

these

machines? Will she get used to them ever? I hate when she cries!

Thank You

Shaylene
