Guest guest
Perhaps one of your first purchases should be Viera Scheibner's book Vaccination-100 Years of Orthodox Research shows that Vaccines Represent a Medical Assault on the Immune System It will save you time and angst in the long run. Why bother to learn disease rates when you can learn from the orthodoxy's own research studies that vaccines are a dismal failure? My first was a UC birth so it certainly IS possible to go that route, but it all comes down to you 2 and the pregnancy in general.Best wishes whatever you choose. So no problems ever with not vaxing or licensing your dogs? We may get a dog tomorrow who will have some vaxes, but I definately don't want to continue with those vaccines(not even the yearly/3 yr rabies). I don't think you can get a license without one though. Was hopnig to find someone who would just give me the license for a little extra $$$. Lotta vaccine(human) info in the archives and files. Better to save that money for natural healing books, and find the vax related books through your libraries inter-loan program. I even get the herbal/homeo books that way first so I can make sure it is worth the purchase. The most useful(but I have not had to much need for it) book I have gotten was Smart Medicine for a healthier child by Zand et al. I just wish they would get a new edition out! I found that book at a wholesale book outlet store for $7(after I had gotten mine for $20 at the hfs),so I bought 3 to give out as gifts. Guest guest
, I usually just delete all the intro's since this list is so high volume ( i know--shame on me) but I'm glad I didn't. I'm in Milwaukee as well. I also have an attachment parenting list for the area milwaukeeAPmomsgroups (DOT) ... if you'd like to talk to more like minded moms in the area. I don't know much about the disease rates for the area but we've been on the look out for chicken poxs to expose the girls to! We just got a new puppy and I've been wondering about not vaxing him as well so I'd love to chat with you about that. Welcome and congrats on the pregnancy. L. Proud mom to Autumn 1-13-97 & Zoe 8-8-00 Intro - baby on the way Hi All, I told Sheri I wasn't planning on posting but started reading the messages and saw some posts that made me want to introduce myself. I am 8 weeks pregnant, still very early, I know. My husband and I are very excited, this is our first. However, I haven't even scraped the surface of natural home health products (how bad carpeting and mattresses are), cloth diapering (how bad disposables are)and birthing options (how bad drugs can be)and my fear is already building about the pressure to vaccinate my baby. I don't want to do it. We don't vaccinate our dogs so we can't board them, take them on our Canadian vacations or license them so they are illegal pups but that seems easy compared to dealing with doctors, schools and other parents pressuring/belittling us for not wanting to vaccinate our child. Right now it is a little overwhelming and I will continue to read the messages and look for bits of advice and knowledge about this topic. Does anyone know where can I find out what the disease rates are in my area (Milwaukee, WI)? As you can see, my signature is taylored for all the pet lists I'm on which revolve around natural pet care. Thanks in advance for any response. ===== and Jade (GSD w/'s since 3/00) Natural Raw Meat-Based Pet Food http://www.companionnaturalpetfood.com/ K9 Natural Diets List Owner: http://www./group/k9_natural_diets/ __________________________________________________
Guest guest
, I also wanted to add that I've found Milwaukee to be a pretty Non vaccine friendly place. We found 2 " natural " type pediatricians that have no problems with us not vaccinating. We are near 2 good classical homeopaths. The school system has philosopohical exemptions so it's no problem. The two daycares I used didn't blink an eye! We have several great midwives in the area that do homebirths as well as many hospitals with midwifery. It's a lot to take in, start reading Mothering Magazine. They are a great source of info too. www.mothering.com L. Guest guest
Hi , I'm in the UK, but was recently recommended to this book, which I located on BOL.com. They are UK-based but ship all over the world. I've included below the review that a member of my parenting group did on it for you. The link *should* take you to the title if it doesn't get too severely split. I haven't read this one myself - my preference is The Vaccination Bible, published by What Doctors Don't Tell You, www.wddty.co.uk. Only small paperback but full of useful information and updated and revised regularly. http://www.uk.bol.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/gb/-/GBP/BOL_Displ ayProductInformation-Start;sid=5tdYg8iRz9taJfQfciqbxLqkNUlSxWU8u4c=?BOL_OWNE R_ID=1001002000834577 & Section=BOOK " ...the first book I bought about vaxing or not vaxing was: An Educated Decision by Head ... she is a homeopath who treats both vaxed and unvaxed children. The viewpoint of the book is very non judgemental .. the back says: " Head is a professional homoepath with 15 years exprince of working with children. This book is written from her observations of vaccinated and unvaccinated children of all ages and presents the why's and wherefore's of whether or not to vaccinate ... Aimed at parents and health practitioners it gives a good explanation of what homoepathy is and how it works and includes remedies that can be used during an infection " (I didn't really notice this myself whn I read it though!) .... " The childhood diseases are covered in detail with a look at the side effects of each vaccination, including more information about the MMR and the new C Strain Menigitis vaccine, and lots of case histories. There is also a chapter on the immune system and finally the stories of 10 completely unvaccinated children and how they have fared over the years. " " The reason I would particularly recommend it....is the last part - the 10 case histories, which is written as informal interviews from parents of unvaccinated children. " Both dh and I found the book very reassuring when making our decision not to vaccinate. It comes across like not vaccinating is the most ordinary thing in the world. It totally convinced us that we were doing the right thing. " Congratulatoins on the pregnancy - hope all goes well for you. HTH. Love, light and peace, Sue > Re: Intro - baby on the way > > > oooh! Guest guest
joel, we have two dogs and two cats. i've always tried to " selectively " vaccinate our pets, as i didn't think there was any other way to get around it. i've tried to find a more holistic vet practitioner, but wasn't able to in our area (Bay Area, Ca). Also, our current vets have told us that if we chose NOT to vaccinate our dogs with the rabies (and cats), and one of them bit someone, the offending animal could be carted away by animal control. I guess my question would be twofold, a) is this true, and if we chose NOT to vaccinate any further, what would I need to do in case something like this happened.
