Guest guest
Hi all...I thought you Americans were loading up the list abit this week, so I would give you an update from Oz ;0) BJ turned 4 last month-he had a nice birthday.I don't think he understood it, but he loved opening all the pressies ( even dh who's birthday is 2 days after BJ) . Great practice for Xmas We had abit of " trouble " at his daycare centre. I found out that they received funding in late July for an extra teacher for BJ's days. The main reason I got pissed is that when I asked the director there to take BJ to the toilet more often, (as he need to be toilet trained by Feb next year to be mainstreamed into preschool), she bluntly told me " we don't have enough staff to do that " .Her attitude towards me has dropped considerably over the past year, esp as she tells me that BJ has only become a problem the past few months ( this was in July ). I believe the quote was " he is going through his terrible twos. " My reply to that one was " he has been going thru that since he was 2. " So they applied for funding, to apparently help my boy. He attends/ed daycare 2 days per week. The funding lady came into their office, we filled in a mini IFSP, and they applied for funding-one of the BIG things was getting BJ able to toilet himself.. That is all I heard. In early Dec I thought I had better do the right thing, and call the funding people, and let them know that if the funding wasn't approved by now, then not to worry,as BJ was leaving this year, and going to another school next year ( our school year is a calendar year Jan - Dec) . She tells me that the day care centre received funding at the end of July. And to top things off, the centre hadn't informed the funding people that BJ was leaving their centre-makes me wonder how long they were going to try and receive funding. After much deliberating and yelling at hubby,) and chatting with list friends ) I decided not to take further action against the school, as there were only 3 weeks left of term. But I told the funding people my concerns, and the centre will be watched heavily if they apply for funding for another kid. I mean, the funding lady gave them a couple of ideas to help BJ out, and they told her they were good ideas,a nd that they would implement them, then never even told me about them, and they didn't implement them.won;t bore you with details, anyway poor ole and Tena are probably sick of hearing about his sorry girls Great news time ( if you get this far ) The preschool BJ attends is FANTASTIC. he has been there all year. He was in a special needs unit- 6 kids to 4 teachers. He thrived there. This preschool got a new director this year, and she implemented signing throughout the ENTIRE preschool. BJ has learnt much this year , and we just attended the preschool Xmas concert. ALL the kids signed to about 5 Xmas songs they had learnt- it was incredible. I watched BJ signing and singing songs that we hadn't taught him( and ones that weren't the wiggles ) and just burst into tears-so did my MIL. we sat up the back so BJ couldn't see us, and it was sooo great-esp to see all the normal kids loving it so much He will attend there next year 3 days per week, and will be mainstreamed with as much or as little aide that he needs, so long as he is toilet trained. We also bought BJ toilet step ladder on Friday, and he has been to the toilet about 9 times already, and a majority of those he has initiated. We are rewarding him with pieces of Fredo frog ( chocolate). He i syet to do a poo on the toilet, but he is going sooo well, only about 3 accidents so far. We also had to buy him proper undies, as he no longer likes to feel wet-he esp didn't like the poo sensation hehehehe-hopefully I will only have one in day nappies come Feb when this bubs is born I am also receiving a Bear video with the toileteers and some bear undies from USA ( thanks Kel) so hopeflly the bribery will keep working. I am well, this pregnacy is progressing nicely. I am now 32 weeks. The baby is well, and I have finally begun to gain weight.Bubs has sorta " jumped " out, and now I " finally " look pregnant. It is weird with 8 weeks to go, when customers from the chemist shop I work in say " Oh when is the baby due? " They look shocked when I say 8 weeks My clothes are finally getting too tight. I had a c-section with BJ, and kept allot of the weight on, so my belly has " turned into " the baby. I am also tall, so I think I carry well-who knows........All I know is that I usually only feel pregnant when the baby moves, or I am really tired, probably because i am used to this extra weight Well I have rambled well and truly long enough. If you got this far you have the patience of a saint Have a great Xmas my list buddies, I hope Santa is good to you all. Guest guest
Here we have nappy changing regulations. If they don't have nappy changing facilities, then they can't change nappies by law. The special needs unit has the facilities. I don't mind too much, as he is responding well to the toilet training. I was mainly annoyed that the daycare didn't help more, esp now that I know they had an extra staff member there. But the daycare was good for him socially, as he was the only special needs kid there. Educationally is another story. I also think that they will allow BJ to attend school in pull-ups, so long as he can pull his own pants up and down. I know they have made exceptions in the past, and so long as he is toilet timed between 9am and 3 pm, who cares? The main reason I also don't mind too much is that BJ LOVES these teachers-he has thrived in this environment, and they have been slowly introducing him to the mainstream group he will join next year. So I would be undoing allot or preparation if I change schools now, and I don't think I could place him in a good school now for next year, as our school term has just finished, and we go back to start Term 1 in late Jan. But it nice to know that some schools don't have those laws. I think if he wasn't trained they would help me palcehim somewhere else. sherriwalthers wrote: > he should not ahve to be potty trained to attend preschool, my son is three > and he goes to preschool and is not potty trained, working on it though and > they accepted him, i would suggest looking in to other preschools and > talking to many of them so that he is still able to get the social > interaction with the other kids his age, sherri > BJ update-sort vent, mostly good :0) LONG > > > Hi all...I thought you Americans were loading up the list abit this > > week, so I would give you an update from Oz ;0) > > > > > > BJ turned 4 last month-he had a nice birthday.I don't think he > > understood it, but he loved opening all the pressies ( even dh who's > > birthday is 2 days after BJ) .
