I want to thank everyone for your support and ideas.

We have offered to have andra volunteer at the camp. however, our

superintendent/director has  not even responded to that idea.  What he has

done is refer us to WSSRA and their day camp.  The problem there is; is

used to being included with her peers.  She has been involved with this camp

since she was three.  She will be 16 next week.  The park district camp is 10

weeks.  The WSSRA (West Suburban Special Recreation Association) has a nice

camp, but it is 6 weeks and she will be placed in with LD and Behavioral

teens.  I'm not sure how she will do with this. WSSRA has such a huge amount

of families request a slot with them, they actually have to pick by

lottery.   We first received a letter that she was not picked and all of a

sudden her name came up.

I am very upset that our Park District is turning it's back on our teens.  I

will most definetely being taking this story to the press.  I find it to be so

unfair and discriminatory.  After all these years to suddenly close the doors.

On Monday, I will bring andra in to see Jeff, our director, so he can

explain to her why she will be unable to attend the camp.  I can't wait to see

how he handles this.
