I have always appreciated the different newsletters forwarded to the group and

wasn't sure if this one had made the rounds or not. The focus is national, so

all topics might not have the broadest appeal. The one that made me think of

this group was the " Do participant-directed workers require the same training as

agency workers " link. If you want to subscribe to the newsletter, to to their

Nothing new with my brother, other than him turning 48 last week. Weird--I

don't react much to my own birthday, but him turning 48 sure reminds me I'm

aging as well. I'll take his birthday present when I head home for Easter

Dinner--Archie Americana Best of the 90s. That's the last of their decade

series, so I might have to go back to getting him t-shirts and underwear come

Christmas. He's hard to buy for.

Community Innovations for Aging in Place (CIAIP)

Summary: CIAIP was authorized by Congress to assist communities in their efforts

to enable older adults to sustain their independence and age in their homes and

identify innovative strategies for linking older individuals to programs that

Current Obstacles and Pathways to Improvement

Summary: The fragmentation of care for dually eligible beneficiaries is an

ongoing concern. This brief discusses potential methods of reducing this

fragmentation and improving nursing facility care for this population.

Recommendations involve concentrating responsibility and accountability for

prescription drug use, providing financial incentives for nursing facilities to

Long-Term Care

Village to Village Network (VtV)

Summary: Network with 'Villages' that are sprouting up in communities across the

country. These initiatives allow people affordable options for staying in their

own homes, and to remain active, independent, and civically connected to their

communities. The Village to Village Network is an informal association of these

groups, a national peer to peer network to help communities establish and

continuously improve their Villages whether in large metropolitan areas, rural

towns, or suburban settings.
