Guest guest
Hi Ally It's lovely to hear from you. We were delighted when Mr Collin said Grace would not need surgery until she was older. I thought that she may have needed a temp lift as her pupil seemed to be slightly covered on her left eye. However, Mr Collin said it should not affect her sight and was happy to leave it. Its great ot hear that only had to have 1 operation. It would be wonderful if Grace could strengthen her muscles in the same way. We will have to wait and see. Grace is the first in our family to have BPES and it's a steep learning curve for us. I really value any advice and pointers from others. I'm also trying to put some photos together Thanks again Nicola my mail <kaldi@...> wrote: Hi Nicola & Grace, My name is Ally,I'm a new member. My youngest son is turning 8 soon,he also as a 1year old had a slight crease in his eyelids and had his 1st opp when he was 5 to correct the webbing between the eyes & nose.He hasn't had any other opps . Having the webbing done has made a huge improvement for . .My husband & I are glad that we waited til was 5 which was our surgens recomendation.Over the years he has strengthened his eyelid mussles himself. My other son who is now 16 & myself had our 1st opps before we were 2.Ive had about 10 opps & s had 3 opps.s last opp was haveing the slings done ,they took tendions from his left arm to use. isnt happy with the look of his eyes as one is bigger than the other one, this is due to the opp on sortening the eyelid mussle. Hopefully this can be fixed in the near future. I'm trying to put together a photo album for this site. I look forward to hearing from you, kind regards Ally. blepharophimosis Grace and Mr Collin. On Wednesday we went to see Mr Collin at Harley Street to gain a second opinion on the surgeries Grace ( 1year old ) would need. Our eye specialist in Bradford had said he would not do anything until she was 5 and for some reason he did not fill me with confidence. Mr Collin said that Grace did not need the slings straight away as she had good muscle control and even has a crease in her eye lids. He would like to operate on her when she is 3- 3 1/2 to open up her eyes towards her nose. He would then operate a year later to sort out her thick eyelids. We felt so much better after seeing him. He was alittle concerned as her left eye lid droops which may lead to a lazy eye but said with regular eye appointments this will be monitored. He was brilliant with Grace and gave us detailed and to the point answers, something we have not always had from other doctors.
