Guest guest
Hi Lucy, I'm not sure if you remember me or not, you had emailed me a few months ago. I have a daughter, , who just turned 10 months old. We also just took her to an occular surgeon for a second opinion on Monday. It sounds like we have pretty much the same plan as Holly, execpt they didn't tell us anything about permanent lifts. had developed some nastagmus (eyes twitching from side to side) and that is the reason they wanted to do the lift so soon. They told us the more the eye is exposed the greater the vision develops. Keep us posted about when her surgery is, etc. and I'll let you know how we get along. I'm hoping isn't too uncomfortable. We have a four hour drive home. Glad to hear you had a good appointment and you were pleased. Peace of mind means a lot! Amy > > Hi All > Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you all but because our appointment was just before Christmas, it has been so hectic until now!! > > Our daughter Holly is now nearly 11 months old and we were going to Mr Collin at Moorfields to see what they felt was the best for Holly. Well where shall I start....the hospital was great, really set up for children with different play areas and everybody was really friendly. Holly even got a little teddy bear given to her from staff which came from Father Christmas who had visited Moorfields the day before!! > > Mr Collin was also a very nice man and made us feel very comfortable. He said that due to research done in the last 18 months that if any part of the pupil is covered by the eyelid then they would do a temporary lift straight away. This means that Holly will be operated as soon as an appointment is available, probably between April - May this year. Then aged 3 to 3 and a half they will operate on her epicanthus inversus. This then leaves the permamnent lifts using the muscle from her leg aged approx 4 years old. It is so nice to now know what will be happening and we have every faith in Mr Collin and Moorfields Eye Hospital. We are even allowed to stay at the hospital overnight because it will be too far to do in one day. > > We are due to go back in March for a check-up appointment and even though it means travelling to London a few times a year, it is really worth it for the best quality of care. > > I will keep you all updated when her first operation is due. > > Take care all and Happy New Year!! > > Regards > Lucy > Hampshire, UK. > > > > --------------------------------- > Messenger NEW - crystal clear PC to PC calling worldwide with voicemail >
