Hi everyone and thank you for all the postings of support a couple

of weeks ago.

I have found it difficult posting recently as I have found out my

BPES is type 1 as the hormone tests confirmed I am going through

early menopause and have pre-ovarian failure. I also had a scan

which confirms this further but on a positive I will be able to

carry a child so donor eggs are the only option for me. I am

devastated that I will never have my own child but hope that IVF

will work for my husband and I with a donor egg.

I wasn't going to post anything but feel strongly about other young

woman with BPES type 1 knowing about what options they have as early

as possible and even in early teens if necessary as I did not have

any knowledge of this until the age of 28 years old and only through

discovering through this site. My parents were never informed about

the connection and Moorfields never contacted my parents about this

connection in more recent years which I am angry about.

I would advise all the young woman with BPES to contact their GP and

seek further examination through blood tests and a possible scan if

available. This will enable choices for the future to become

clearer. I have been taking a contraceptive pill for ten years

which at first I was upset about because for many years I have been

preventing pregnancies and now I am told I am infertile but this has

been a good thing for my health as I have been advised to return to

taking the pill instead of HRT as they contain similar hormone

replacement. I will need to have a bone scan to check the density

of my bones but I'm not too worried as I have taken replacement

hormones for ten years and also drink/eat so much calcium, I'm sure

everything will be fine.

I will also be referred for IVF but understand their is a very long

waiting list for donor eggs and would prefer an unknown donor.

Donor eggs are only available through other woman also going through

IVF. My friends and family are devastated too, I am a very resilient

person and believe life is a challenge and this is just another

hurdle in life to get over and so far in life I have inspired many

people to success in life through my own self determination and this

is yet another moment that I can take on this life challenge of IVF

and hope I am able to have a child at some time in the future.

I am trying to think positive and hope by sharing my experience it

will prepare other young woman to seek further medical advice and

examination. take care for now, aged 28 years
