Hi kathy

Ok now I understand I am so sorry you have this going on I to have it

well I did below my knee but with time the pain is in my knee now and

I do not have much ligaments and cartilaget left I lost alot of my

reflex in my left leg because of this and my leg is very very cold

and red and blue the color was just below the knee but now is up to

my hip. I do walk with a cane sometimes but use my scooter if i have

to walk more then 20 feet.

hi Kathy?? I'm ? R? ?from Ohio?? phantom cam be a real pain? but as time

goes on its severity fades?? about 6 years ago? my foot went under a push mower

while I was mowing a yard for my sis in law?? needless to say it did

amputations? then the doc had to do more to try save my foot and ankle .? I

still have faint phantom pain where pieces of my foot should be , that accident

is the reason I now fight with rsd pain? all the way up my right leg?? at first

it was just in my foot and ankle?? , but its up to my hip?now????? I still get

the phantom? but its not to bad now?? so if you need to chat? I'd love to have

someone to talk to??

Re: Re: (no subject)

Hi, Suzy...

the reason is that my foot and ankle are so severely damaged and there is so

much RSD through out that foot and ankle...it is " not salvegable " as the

doctors call it. The bones, ligaments and cartilage have all turned inward.

they are all permanently inward causing the pain to be even worse. Of course I

would never consider this in the other areas where the RSD is located...even

where it is moderately severe. The doctors at the cleveland clinic, johns

hopkins, mayo clinic and jefferson have all told me and my pm dr that my foot

is the worst case they have seen to date. They have taken so many pictures of

my foot, and asked me to sign permission slips to teach about RSD, and to

1put if in the New Enland Journal regarding RSD. They have used these photos

in medical schools all over.

These doctors have told me that in the past, they did amputations more

frequently, but now they only do them for the patients that have no hope of a

productive life due to the limb. My RSD is below the knee right now...it is not

above the knee...so unless it spreads from the surgery, i would not have the

pain any longer from the RSD.

One pain that does ocurr frequently with amputation is phantom pain. That

is one of the biggest Draw backs on an amputation.

Thanks for your thoughts and your well wishes.

Kathy,

I have heard over and over that it is wonderful or aweful and there is no

way to know until you try it. For me it was aweful. I became depressed to

dangerous levels. I pray it is a Godsend for you.

Hey Kathy,,

Well Thank you very much. I really enjoy doing this so much.. I have became

pretty close to some of the members,,and of course you are one of them   You are

just to sweet...

How you feeling hon??? Are  your  legs getting any better??? I keep you in all

of my prayers.. I pray everyday that you start getting better...

My sister Margie is doing pretty good. Our oldest sister that takes care of her

is on vacation for a week. Her and her male friend went to Aruba. So our other

sister and some of Margie's friends are staying with her. Saturday our sister

a had to leave to go to work, the friend that was on her way (running late)

wasn't there yet. Margie told a to go ahead and leave. Well before Sue got

there Margie had a seizure.. Sue found her on the living room floor..When Margie

came to she refused to go the hospital. They wont do anything for her any way..

They say there is nothing they can do...Her Dr took her off the steroids.. now

the seizures are starting again.. I just don't know what is gonna happen.. As of

her last PET scan she was still cancer free. Its just the brain dying..Thee

Gamma Knife radiation they did on her keeps working for up to 2 years.. 2 years

wont be up till May...It hard to believe she has been battling this for 4 years

in May.She is

so much stronger then I could ever be..

I'm not doing to bad.. Last week I had a couple bad days... My soon to be

x asked if I had done an adjustment with them stem.. well I never thought about

that.. I changed my rate and with in an half hour I was up cooking and doing

dishes.. I just never thought about changing the rate..lol.. well it worked...

I'm also a volunteer for the Family Crisis Center here in town, This is my

week to be on call.. I have the crisis phone.. And of course it was a busy

weekend... The phone had been quite for the last couple weeks,, well I got it

Friday,, I had 9 calls over the weekend... not quite for me.. I did take 1 woman

into shelter. So this afternoon I will go to court with her..

Other then that,,, Life is good...

I Hope you are getting rest and starting to feel better.. Thanks so much for

the sweet note... If you ever need to talk hon, you have my #'s...

soft hugs and love to you

your concern...don't worry, 10yrs. of dealing w/ workers comp & 21 yrs. of

Social Security, numerous Drs. taght me to be proactive, persistant, and

informed. I appreciate your input.

Thanks, Patt

Kathy,

I am now on my 4th pump and I have never seen a neurosurgeon. My pumps have all

be implanted by my pain management doctors who were initially anesthesiologists.

Hey !

How are you making out at work, honey?

How did you make out at the foot doctor?

I hope that you can get a bone scan, as it will show RSD or not. The CT

was a great idea too.

I will be more than happy to look for a Pain Doc for you in your area, if

you would like me to, honey.

As you said, it really is t he best bet....and I am sure you are weary of

this...since the last one was a real putz, but not all of them are, hon.

Please let me know how you are, okay. I am worried about you , lovey.

Love,

kathy G

Hi!

Just popping in so say " still hanging in there " .   Went out for a nice ride

with the husband in the convertible on Sunday and to my son and daughter-in-laws

on Memorial Day.  Not much quality time with the grandson there though.  Mr.

Max (my little darling) went down for a nap soon after we got there.  How was

yours?

Take care everyone!.............................sheryl
