Guest guest
How is a baby protected from HIB if breastfed? I was also told if I wait till 18 months my dd only needs one shot. I figure by 18 months she is safe. I had found some web sites, but could not understand what I was reading. Kathy

Any vaccine can damage or kill at any time. Its just how it is. Baby's who are breastfed are less likely to get HIB meningitis - breastfeeding provides so much immunity for your baby. Guest guest
For what it's worth, I nursed my kids until they were 4 and 6 respectively and sent them to preschool (montessori) from the time they were three. They didn't get the Hib vaccine. The woman who ran the school said my kids got sick less often and always got well faster. Guest guest
I also want to remind everyone about my website. For instance, there is a list of references I put together on this topic many months ago and you will find it at: http://www.vaccinationnews.com/rally/breastfeeding.htm , as well as a number of articles you can read if you do a search. Guest guest
Please read 's piece called " The Perilous Hib " at www.vaccinationnews.com for insight into what some of the not so obvious problems may be with the vaccine. Re: HIB At 03:04 PM 10/30/2001 -0500, you wrote: >Hi all. I was wondering if anyone has information on the Hib vaccine. Went to my new doc. yesterday (family doctor) and he didn't even bat an eye when I said I didn't want my 4 y/o boostered, and when I said I didn't want to vax my 2 mo. old son. He did, however, recommend the Hib vaccine, he saw many kids in his residency who apparently had some bad cases of meningitis, many died. So I read the vaccine insert (not that impressive <g>) and did some searching. I couldn't find anything really contraindicative (besides the mercury) but was wondering what are the chances of contracting influenza type B and it actually causing meningitis? Is the vax really that bad? (I know, I know, they are all bad). Maybe I missed something. Apparently the biggest risk is from 6 mo. to 1 year, and really no instances of type B in under 5 years old. > >TIA > > > > > See my website http://www.nccn.net/~wwithin/hib.htm breastfed babies are hardly at risk more at risk week after vaccine to get HIB meningitis and others just talked to a man who called who's baby get HIB vax and 3 days later got Meningits C meningitis and septicemia and lost her legs from the knees down and other problems sensitize to one strain and then another will show up as did pneumococcal meningitis and now meningitis c Yes, its really that bad. You have to hear from people over and over and over. You can't believe their propaganda.
