Guest guest Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Is it practical to donate a used computer from the USA and ship it to an organization in Kenya? Or, would the customs, shipping, (potential theft along the way?) problems be so great that it would be better to just send money towards the purchase of a new computer within Kenya? Please advise.... Guest guest Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 Hi and the list readers, It is only economical if it goes in a container of other Relief Materials forwarded by a charity. My method is to carry one as hand luggage when I visit and leave it behind when I go home again. Slow but sure and duty free. Anyone travelling from Australia to Kenya can pick one up any time by arrangement. New ones are always liable to theft from the premises where good works are carried out because usually the premises are not very secure. Second hand and dated machines usually don't 'walk' but are useful for tutorials and practice in word processing and spread sheets.
